As you said, the time it was written and by who. It's unfortunate but I say take it from an anthropological viewpoint? I guess that's why some old people of all cultures can just really racist - product of their time *shrug*

You would be such a good teacher :) ToA is really overloaded now I hear but you can try...

What's the matter? I thought your brother would be driving up and down to get your stuff moved?

I think I'd be more okay with the historical context argument if it wasn't for the fact that the work was written post-1981, published in 2001 and published by a University Press. But again as you said, product of theirtime.

I've already made my inquiry with Teach for America, I mean, they have field placements IN Charlotte, but I would even take a non-classroom position if they offered it. I don't have teaching experience, so Char-Meck wouldn't hire me a a teacher, but I might be able to subsititute, work with the Catholic Schools (all four of them) and/or look at the Charter/Magnet schools for TA spots. I'm also looking at Americorps. These are, like, plans G, H and I.

We're having issues getting a vehicle, figuring out how to pay for the vehicle, and how to do it all in a short time-limit since my brother only has Tuesday-Thursday off of work. You can do the 14-18 hour drive in one go, but it's insane to try it with only one driver. We finally have a tentative plan right now, but my brother will still have to agree to it.
