So, this is about a month or so late, but hey, at least it's posted.
Now, I have few pics of the actual signing. The pics I did take were crappy, for which there is two reasons. Reason 1: Not even three hours before I went to Border's, I had just flown in from London. I was on little sleep. I had gone through a bunch of bs in customs coming back to the US. I was achy and tired and did not want to get back on mass transit. But I did, damn it. Now, I love the Border's in Boston. It's in an old bank, and very cool, but it's still a good 30 min t-ride North from where I live. By the time I got to the store, I was already starting to drift, so a quick run to CVS was needed for some diet coke wake-up calls.
I meant a mother and her daughter while waiting in line. Since the mother and I had both bought our Acheron books before the signing, we didn't have the tickets we needed to get into the official line. Luckily, the manager at Border's completely understood our issue and just told one of the cashiers to give us tickets. I was slightly miffed, since I had bought an SK book that night to be signed, a new copy, with new cover, Night Play and my cashier had not said anything about tickets, or the signing for that matter. Ah, well, C'est la vie. I was 18th in line, so not complaining.
This is what the display looked like:
The crowd:
From what I understand, it was a very small signing, with only about 50 odd people. Then again, it's not like Border's did a heavy promotion for it or anything.
The blonde in the picture below is Diana Love, who is apparently also an author, and was there with SK, helping to hand out stuff etc. SK is the brunette.
SK was sweet, awesome, generous, funny etc. She has very down to earth and shared quite a few family anecdotes with the crowd.
Now, my copy of Acheron was diffrent from everyone else's. Why? B/c I bought mine in London and therefore was the only one with the paperback UK edition. SK had a bit of a freak out over it, forced Diana Love to hold the book up to show everyone, and then forced me to hold the book out while she took a picture of me and the book. Which is now up on her myspace. With me in all my tired, need to wash my face, just got back from a trans-atlantic trip glory. Joy. Still, awesome.
The books and autographs:
There was a raffle. I won zlitch, but we also got some freebies:
The big orange pin on the bag was handed out to everyone at the start.
Free poster of the "manga" version of Dark-hunter which, I think, comes out next year:
And a free bumpersticker:
I didn't stay long after the signing, b/c I really was exhausted. So I waited about 10 mins after I got my things signed, and then split. I wanted to be home when I finally crashed. Which I did. I still woke up at 6:20 the next morning and went to work for a whole nine hour day. It took me forever to get back on a normal schedule, but I'm fine now. A month later.
