WHO: Nuala, Abe, Aidan, and Jerek (if everyone wants to participate) WHAT: Aidan and Jerek are taking care of Nuala, Abe goes to help WHERE: An inn WHEN: After this post.
Given her state of health upon her arrival, it was a wonder the princess had managed to do so well the past few days, despite her somewhat hindered healing process. For some reason she hadn't quite managed to discover quite yet, her body just refused to cooperate. It was an unfortunate situation. Nuala hadn't wished in the least to become a burden to the kind people that had taken her in-- quite the contrary, as a matter of fact; she only wished to repay them tenfold for their efforts in keeping her as safe and healthy as possible.
She'd been alerted to expecting company, but the details of who and when had remained scarce. Nuada, perhaps? Though it seemed unlikely-- surely, she would have felt his presence, however faint it was. Yohann, Liz-- any number of the B.P.R.D.. Perhaps even--
Her breath hitched as she heard a voice echo through the building. A simple word; that was all it was, but all she'd needed to identify it.
'Abraham.'She carefully pushed herself up and leaned back against the pillow, placing the novel she'd been

Weeks had passed. The world had moved on. But Abe had not stopped listening for the one voice he knew he would never hear again. He had read enough books on the subject of grief and loss to know that that was unlikely to change, no matter how many years he lived. So he was listening, with the senses that functioned here in Rivelata and with the ones that had been rendered unreliable, for her voice when he walked into the inn, half expecting to wake up to find that this was a dream. One of the many that had haunted his sleep.
But then he heard her voice, calling his name. The inn could have been filled with hundreds of people, yelling and screaming their loudest, and still he would have heard her. He knew that she was here, but he had not known. Not for sure. Not until now

Moments passed in silence, though as they melded into one another, they seemed more an eternity than anything else. Anticipation, for all of its nerve-wracking, was a beautiful thing in moments like this: exciting, invigorating, and all-together completely, utterly comprised of convoluted, hypothetical thoughts.
Anticipation became anxiousness, and Nuala found herself wishing for some way to calm the rampant beating within her chest. A hard thing to do while stuck on recalling their last moments together. How to react. What to do. What to say that hadn't already been said.
It was beautiful.
It was then, as he stood in the doorway, that she realized just how stark the contrast was between believing in something and being faced with hard, undeniable facts. His voice had simply been that: a voice, offering an air of uncertainty-- a possibility that what she believed in would come to pass as a fleeting, intangible wish.
But there he stood. Physical. Tangible. Very much here in this strange place, just as she was

Abe hovered in the doorway a moment more, before finally moving into the room. Nuala might not blame him for not being there, but he blamed himself enough for the both of them. He hadn’t been able to do enough to protect her in Bethmoora, to fail again during this unexpected second chance was unthinkable

"Oh-- I-- I'm fine, really. I," She turned her head away awkwardly, brushing her hair behind her ears. "I'm ... recovering. I arrived in much worse condition." Nuala hadn't exactly planned to survive the stab wound she'd given herself, after all. Now that she had, the healing process was none too pleasant, but she welcomed this second chance at life

Worse condition? Abe shifted his focus from looking at Nuala like he was trying to memorize her in case she disappeared in front of him to looking for signs of injury. If the last thing she remembered was seeing him and then nothing, did that mean that she arrived here with the knife wound? How was that possible? How had it healed? Abe's hand was already rising from his side to sense the energies in the room before he realized how futile such a gesture was. He waved his hand instead

She could only believe he would eventually arrive. Even here, she doubted their bond could be completely broken. How he would arrive, and when, however, were complete mysteries. There was only so much she could speculate without her abilities working at full strength.
"How strange that it affects us to such a degree, and yet there are others here in possession of great power. Jerek and Aidan came to my aid on the beach, and Jerek's magic healed me. Not completely, but ... If it hadn't been for him

“The functioning of one’s abilities could be based on the length of time one has been here,” Abe speculated, tilting his head uncertainly. “I’ve only been here a week, I think. Maybe two at the most. Between the disorientation and the were-creature problem, I’ve lost track.” He pulled himself away from the tangent he was about to embark upon and brought himself back to the matter at hand. “Or perhaps they are natives of this land? Many individuals who write in the journal come from other worlds, even worlds that are not our own, but surely there are natives here

As she felt his touch on her arm, she looked down at his hand, suddenly finding herself speechless. So few things managed to evoke the feelings that gentle touch had. It had been a gesture made out of concern, that much was for certain, but it made her emotional reaction all that more perplexing to her.
This ... would all take quite some time to grow accustomed to.
"Abraham...." She replied softly, smiling gently as she looked up to catch his gaze in her own. He spoke with such sincerity and truth-- such complete conviction. She admired him for it. For every word he spoke, every action he took, every belief he followed. He seemed to follow his heart so completely and beautifully
