Otae was dressed in her typical kimono as she walked into the bar with a smile on her face. While she had just arrived here the stress of dealing with a certain Gorilla stalker and the fact her brother wasn’t here heighten the need for a drink. The former hostess, who was currently looking for a job, dolled her self up in her best make-up and as she walked in scanned the bar. As long as she didn’t punch anyone it was highly likely her drinks would be out of some idiot's pocket who thought he would be lucky tonight.
Lucky for Otae being a hostess meant you had to have a high alcohol tolerance, and be able to keep your head clear.
The young woman came up beside Gojyo to talk to the bartender, “just a bit of water for now, I’m waiting for someone.”
Kurama had to admit, a night of drinks sounded good - despite what Hakkai might think about his lack of drinking experience, Kurama had quite a bit. Not only as Youko - and that was another story entirely - but as Shuuichi, who was often expected to go out for casual drinks after work
( ... )
"Hey man, stuff was all free until a little while back. Never had ta' worry 'bout this stuff b'fore," Gojyo shot back easily. He wasn't about to let on to the fact that he was, in fact, a little illiterate still. Sure, Hakkai had managed to teach him a lot about reading & writing, but math was something else entirely and this weird system... it was all very new.
Still, he clapped the other redhead on the shoulder. "Nice t' seeya' out & about, Shu-chan."
Looking a little over Kurama, Gojyo spied the lady who'd just spoken. "Oi, miss... would you be... Otae-chan?" He made a motion with his hand. "Come on over here, darlin', we won't bite."
"Well," Gojyo mumbled for Kurama's ears only, "don't bite outside the bedroom, right?"
Kurama chuckled softly, responding in the same low tone.
"Oh, do you do that too? Wonder if it's a redhead thing...?
He turned to smile kindly at the woman in turn, giving a shallow bow from the waist, and then glancing up through the fringe of his bangs, eyes teasing.
"Don't believe a word he says, Miss. I'm Minamino Shuuichi - and I assure you that you are perfectly safe with me."
Oh, how ironic this all was, even in jest. Safe? With the thousand year-old demon? Kurama couldn't help but grin.
Otae kept her ears open and half listened to the exchange of the two from before hand. She turned on her money making smile and turned to face the two red heads. “Why there is my mystery man, it is a pleasure to have a face to a name Mr. Gojyo, and friend. It is nice to meet you Minamino-san.” Her smile broke into a teasing one to match Kurama's eyes.
This woman was anything but helpless.
“I’m sure I’ll be very safe with you two strong red-heads around.” She tossed back a flattering tease.
