1. How do you beat the summer heat?
Avoid going outside once it's over 110, though I don't think we've gotten there yet. Also, stay hydrated!

2. Do you have air conditioning?
You can't NOT have it here. When the daily high is over 100, and at night it maybe gets down into the 80s, you need AC.

3. What’s your idea of the perfect summer day?The ( Read more... )

I've never been a big summer fan except for the years in Spokane, but even then they were not ideal because the wildfire seasons were so bad that the smoke was so thick. But being back in the southern latitudes, I can say with certainty I am not a summer fan.

Which lakes do you go to? We like to picnic at Lake Pleasant, but we've never been in the water.

Have you been hearing about the Woodbury fire in the Superstitions? I see occasional mentions on FB but have not seen or smelled any smoke.

The only lake in AZ I've gone swimming in is Canyon Lake. I've also driven by Roosevelt Lake and Lake Powell. Powell was really low 5 years ago.

My buildings are right between ASU and Tempe Town Lake.

Yes, I was reading about that fire yesterday! I know they sometimes have bad fires in the Prescott area, and I have been keeping tabs since we're supposed to go up there for the weekend after July 4.

Spokane's geography makes it regularly one of the worst places for fires. The past few years have had multiple days in the unhealthy category, and we actually had a smoke emergency last July. The fires are often not even immediately in the Spokane area - they will drift from Canada, Montana, Idaho, Washington, and Oregon. It seems to collect the smoke there in the valley. I will not miss the smoke season for sure!

I used to read pretty much every night. That was pre-laptop days. Smartphones made things even worse. My old journal entries were often about books. I think I need to set a time at night where I out the phone on airplane mode. That or start using my alarm clock again and keep the phone in another room at night.

I'd be happy with 5-6 books a year.

Seeing Sting would be a lot of fun, I hope you're able to do it! I had the best time there seeing Bon Jovi, I'd absolutely do it again.

I didn't manage to read much last year but I've been on a reading kick lately. I just finished book #12 for the year last night.
