Fresh Ink: Bright Tattoo Overlay Box by Quinctia

Sep 01, 2009 01:48

I made a new one, all my own. YAAAAAAAAAAAAAY.

Tattoo textures yanked off of Deviantart. I have no claim to them. Except for masking and rotating and resizing them. :P Credit for the guts of the box goes, in varying amounts to Morague, SpaceDoll, Theo, Pescado, and myself. Considering the first time I attempted to put these together, I managed to make them very broken, there was definitely a bit of effort involved.

Once again, if anyone wants to help with some transparent .pngs to make more boxes, I will gladly construct boxes, though I can't guarantee how quickly. Tutorial forthcoming EVENTUALLY...considering my screenshotting led to broken boxes, I may have to make new screencaps or something. :P

The idea for this box, and hopefully others, is to make mix-and-match tattoos. So instead of having many tattoos linked to one overlay, there is one. So the box will say "Add Female->1 - Seahorse R Arm" and then you'll know what you're adding and where it's going.

Hello, there, seahorse! Other female tattoos include:

A large butterfly back piece, a butterfly tramp stamp,

swallows along both collarbones, aaaaand

a cute goldfish on the right hip.

I wanted to go for that awesome, bright, colorful look that you get from new tattoos, that only stays if you are religious about touching them up. However, this does not translate as realistically on darker skintones. I don't think they look bad, they just look fake.

Male tattoos...

A blue skull on the right bicep,

chesire cat on the left shoulder, a snake wrapped around a heart on the left pectoral,

a cat and some dead mice on the left calf, aaaaaand

a dragon/koi back piece. I think this shot demonstrates the compromise I had to make. On a lighter skintone, you would let skincolor take care of a lot of the "white/lighter" shades in the tattoo, but I put some semi-transparent white behind a tattoo like this so it didn't mess up the design.

I plan to make a tribal box and possible a Japanese-inspired box, which will be a lot more black designs that will look realistic and good on practically every skintone.

These are indepedent and can therefore be mixed and matched with any and all overlays out there (provided that they were made correctly with unique guids and all that). These have also been fixed like the ones I did here, so that the overlays remain on your sim through thick and thin, age changes, game reloads, community lot visits, the works. Files have been compressorized. Let me know if you have any issues. I obviously put them on and took them off the sims in my snapshots here without issue!

Remember, you must have Seasons in order to use overlay boxes!!
