I've setup a secondary dreamwidth as a backup account to this one, at https://rikkulidea.dreamwidth.org. Obviously, if livejournal goes away, the pictures would disappear, but I do still have all my pictures on a backup harddrive or my laptop itself. They can be restored separately, even if it would be time-consuming ( Read more... )

Would you consider continuing reuploading your pdf archives? I love your stories and have read them multiple times and would love to have all of them on my comp as a backup.

If the original uploads are no longer available, I should be able to dig them up and reupload them. My dreamwidth import keeps failing, though, so I may not be able to make more. :/

I wonder if archive.org crawls livejournal?

Whoops, I'm sorry, I wrote it wrong. No, the downloads you put up still work. I meant more would you consider putting up more. Currently the pdfs only cover til Oct. 2009 ( ... )

Okay, good to know the old pdfs are up. If dw can’t crosspost to lj and can only sporadically import from lj, I might be better off going to manually save my stuff than currently futz around with ljbook, assuming it still exists. Open Office and its offshoots can export pdfs, I can always do that later.

If I can get archive.org to do a crawl one url at a time, it might be worth doing while manually saving…the pics are hosted on livejournal itself, which could be why they display. But who knows if they would if lj disappeared.

Honestly, the pics are the least of my worries, I have those. I don’t have a backup of the writing, without that they’re worthless.

Awww i miss you so much...especially since i've reread your legacies like 10 times. COVID really got me back into Sims....ive been playing a bit and need to post some updates.

Luckily the dw import finally worked! Blogbooker absorbed the old ljbook I used back in the day to make those pdfs. I’d totally plump for a subscription for that for a bit if I could a) archive by tag and b) had the time to fix my one off random missing entry pictures. :/

At least I do have somewhat of an archive on dw now?
