[Teru's home, finally. It's been a long day. A's expecting him to be back late, of course, but he knows she'll still be worried.

[A knew he'd be back late, but of course, she does have a tendency to worry, so when she hears Teru's voice, she pops her head out of the bedroom before going and hugging him.]

Oh, ok. I thought that might be the case.

[A sighs quietly and smiles slightly at Teru.]
At least things are starting to get better, right...?

A little. [He bites his lip.] There's - something else you ought to know, though.

[Her smile fades, and A looks worried once again.]

What...? Did something else happen?

No, nothing else happened. Except I know who shot him.

[A deep breath. It'll be easier if he just gets this out.]

It was Mel.

[Her eyes widen a bit, she goes pale, and for a brief moment, A doesn't breathe.]

...Mel...? But...

Why? Why would she do that? I know she hates Light, lots of people here aren't fond of him, but why? She'd never do that, she's better than that...she...she can't...

I'd have thought so too.

[He would have. Really.]

...She was in that room with him. The one that reverses people's feelings toward each other? It would have made her love him as much as she should hate him, until she stepped outside.

Something must have happened. They must have done something in that room and then left, and...she wouldn't do this, not unprovoked, something had to have happened...

[She's stretching, trying to cling to the idea of Mel having any kind of innocence, and she's failing.]

That's what I assume, yes. I was disturbed myself, leaving that room.

[Not enough to have shot anyone, but enough to feel he needed a shower.]

Still, I can't believe she's done this to Sayu.

[Which isn't strictly true. He can believe it all right.]

She wouldn't...she has no reason to hate Sayu, and whatever she was going to do back on her world isn't going to happen now, too many things have changed, she said so...

Shot her brother and devastated her, I mean, I don't think she'd harm Sayu directly. She's told me she wouldn't let that happen. But I thought she had better self-control than -

[He cuts himself off, laughs bitterly.]

I...where is Mel...? Has anybody seen her or talked to her since the shooting...?

[A strokes his hand a bit more, looking at him with concern.]

[He shakes his head.] I don't know. I've barely left that corridor.
