Also , why did i agree to go to a concert tonight?  It is cold and dark and wet outside,and I will have to change into a dress.

Cold dark and wet I could handle - but a dress! Now that's above and beyond the call of duty. Hope the music is good.

It was the right thing - some people were in evening dress! Admittedly, there were a few young people in casual clothes, but I'm no longer young!
'Twas well worth going too - the singing was superb.
We managed to dodge the rain, too.

I'm dreaming of a sapphire blue brocade trousered evening suit. I have to go to our Christmas concert tonight. But dressy pants a a cashmere jacket will get me through.

Dressy trousers are fine!
I actually meant a dress rather than a very old cord skirt, not instead of trousers. All my trousers are waterproofs or jeans.

I am going to a concert tonight, and am firmly wearing trousers - admittedly tidy black tweed trousers, rather than jeans or trackie bums, but still trousers!

See other reply - my trousers are all very "outdoor" - and I was pleased that I'd changed from shabby skirt into dress, when I saw that quite a few people were in evening dress!
