With Terminus fast approaching, I am scrambling to get my costumes ready for the big week! As I don't have limitless funds with which to provide for myself a movie-accurate wardrobe, I'm making do with what I can find at thrift shops and what my sewing machine can dole out. As I've yet to acquire a Slytherin school tie, I am also trying my options ( Read more... )

It will do, but I can tell you that you should be able to pick up a tie at the vendor room for like $20. The shirt, and skirt look fine, I am just distracted by the multi greens in the tie.

*nods* The multi-greens are not choice, but I thought that, for a random tie that she came across, it was pretty decent. I'm going to see whether I can't scrounge up a grey knit vest, and whether the tie would look better tucked beneath said vest. Otherwise, I'll keep my eyes out. I'll be skimming the vendor stands to be sure, and there's always E-Bay beforehand, though I've not had too much luck there yet.

Thanks :)

I like the tie! A Hufflepuff friend picked out a gold and black tiny brocade design to wear with his robes, and it looked sharp and inventive. You have the basic school uniform look down fine!

add a dark mark, mask, and your student robe and you can have this do double duty as a death eater.

Dont get hung up on the tie, it's not bad and you get points for orginality. But then, you get movie purists....(sigh)

Looks awesome :) A good deal of this whole costuming thing is how well someone pulls it off, and you're totally into it in these pics! Should go over quite well - and a great example of doing the best you can with what you've got :)

And! If anyone's got a gripe with your costume, tell them *they* can fork over the change to get you an "official" tie ;)

Or better yet, throw a bat bogey hex at 'em!

High compliments! And yes, a bat bogey hex would be quite suitable. I shall use it on "them" with pleasure!
