I'd like to recommend that you see the restored "Metropolis" silent movie from the 1920s. It adds 'lost' scenes from a version found in a collector's film archive in Argentina

It's on my *must* list for this week here in Chicago, too. But it's funny you mention Forry. After Aussiecon 1, there were remarkable parties in Melbourne for the next week. I was fortunate enough to be along for the showing by an intense movie nut of his finest for Forry. Like, on a 1925 Edison projector retrofitted for sound. He had (iirc) the original first-run master of Metropolis sent to Australia by Fritz Lang. Since each master was cut a little differently, it had a couple of bits Forry had never seen . . .
