    With a lemon/blueberry loaf in my hands, I stood nervously on a doorstep waiting for someone to answer the door.  Finally, a man with olive coloured skin and short dark hair answered the door.  "Is Christopher home?" I asked.  He just stared at me.  Oh God

... Scruffy knows more than one? Is Marianne a common name in Ontario? I hate it when people say things like this, my brain starts seeking out other possible thats.

I don't think that Marianne is a common name at all. I'd be vair shocked, in fact, if Scruffy knew any other Mariannes.
