Reconstructed bit of a (nearly) lost episode of The Show™, believed to date from 24 July 2008, Earth Time:
[here's luck and renenet are hanging out on the phone, like we do]
renenet: Man, the squash vines are creeping me out!
6 inches in 24 hours? You'd better watch out or pretty soon you'll have them hovering outside your second-story window like the-
here's luck: Like the
demon mutant fennel.
renenet: Right, and now I'm picturing the demon mutant fennel outside my window with little pattypan squash flying saucers buzzing all around it.
here's luck: At least the pattypan squash aren't pink!*
renenet: YOU DON'T KNOW! The pink is canon!
here's luck: No, it was my drawing. I think technically it's fan art.
renenet: [gleeful] I made you use the pink pen!
here's luck: Right, so it's *fanon*.
renenet: No! We're The Show™, so it's *canon*.
here's luck:
Are you writing this down?!renenet: Oh, holy crap, are you kidding?! Since when do I *ever* write this stuff down?
here's luck: I'm busy answering comments on
my vegetable post!
renenet: But we need this episode for posterity!
here's luck: Clearly posterity is screwed.
renenet: Posterity weeps in your general direction. Pink tears. Posterity is a pink smudge.
*OK, um, SRSLY? I am distraught that we can find no trace on LJ of the time I made h.l use a pink pen to draw me a picture of pattypan squash. It was the same night as the demon mutant fennel incident. After she drew the pattypan squash (according to the drawing they are small and pink and they resemble rather classic-looking flying saucers), she added a tiny circle with a squiggle in it. "What's that?" I asked. "It's a quarter. For scale," she replied. :D "A quarter. For scale," is almost my favorite part! (Worst. Portrait. Evar. of George Washington. For reals!) The actual best part? Her whining over the PINKness of the pink pen. I really wish we had a better copy of this early Lost Episode in The Show™ archives. *sigh* It's a shame because IMO it was a formative episode, and we have only this oblique non-account: "
and later there was a conversation about vegetables."
