Fits and spurts

Today, Michelle and I went down to the symphony office so she could distribute and assign horn parts. When we got home, she put on one of the pieces we're playing on the first concert.

I'm the same way with music listening. Though frankly you couldn't pay me to listen to Poulenc. :-P

Poul-WHO?

I still need to read IJ. I have two books to finish this weekend: Silas Marner and Of Human Bondage. Then I will attempt IJ, I think.

P.S. I swear to you, get that Goerne/Brendel album I posted about a while back. Schubert's "Schwanengesang" + Beethoven's "An Die Ferne Geliebte." It's so gorgeous. "Live at the Wigmore Hall," it's called. Even J. Judge liked it enough to BURN a copy.

Getting me to listen to song cycles is tough, but M.'s CD collection has convinced me that Brendel is one of the greatest pianists of my time. My time. As though I am important enough to warrant a "time."

If they have it at the library, I'll check it out. Otherwise . . .
