Halloween Follies/MalfoyParenting!Fail?

Baby!Scorpius' Beauxbatons uniform did not have any hope of coming out. The fabric was slippy, slidey, wrinkled if you looked at it, resisted tailor's chalk, and deformed at every attempt to mark or cut it. The entire piece of fabric would have had to be--carefully--fused to a piece of lightweight interfacing before pattern pieces could even come ( Read more... )

Well, I understand the policy. They have grades K-through-8 there, and some of the older ones might be excessively scary to the tiny ones if they had carte blanche. (Not to mention that younger siblings are allowed to come to the carnival, so there are lots of 3-y-os and younger present.) What it amounts to is that you can be a thing/character that might be inherently scary (e.g., traditional vampire) but you need to eschew gore and blood or excessively disturbing masks.

It made for some very creative, cool costumes--almost the entire 7th grade came as various forms of junk food (well-executed and very scary to dieters. ^_^ )

I didn't think I could get her a decent mask in time to be a DE, so we went with a spare bit of soft-and-cuddly Dementor baby fabric. :D
