My story is v. not interesting.

I wanted to watch the show for YEARS, but I didn't have Showtime (and my dad is very :| about it. Yeah.), and then last October I saw it at the video store. I came home and ask my flist is they thought I should give it a try, and there was pretty much an overwhelming "YOU WOULD LOVE IT!"

So I rented. And I loved. I got about half into the 2nd season (in like 4 days. I think the guy at the video store started looking at me funny after I bought the first 3 back and rented 3 more. It was like a "you do know what this is, right? look) and gave in and bought the first 3 seasons on DVD. I loved it from the second I started watching, honestly. It hooked me in.

I slowly and slowly became more obsessed.

After I'd seen all of 1-4 (I dled 4 because I could not wait a few months for the DVDs, omg.), I started reading fic and such and really getting into fandom.

Yes, that is my dull story of how I came to love QaF.

I'd heard of the show since the beginning but had absolutely no idea what it was. I thought it was a reality show to tell you the truth. So I didn't bother watching it. Last summer I was talking to my adorable gay coworker and he told me I HAD to watch the show. So I watched the next episode (406 I think it was) and was totally hooked from there even though I got everyone's name wrong and was so confused. Sadly the coworker was fired a few weeks later for being lazy so I never really got to squee with him about it. I didn't really think I'd be able to get into the fandom for it, but read a fic on a whim one day and got sucked in. You know how it is. Saved up money and bought Season 1 in Feb. Finished watching it in 4 nights and ran out and bought Season 2. Finished in another few nights. Scraped together the last of my money and bought Season 3. Ordered Season 4 immediately. I've only had my show a year and it's leaving me! :( *is sad*

Urgh. I hear ya. I've only been watching since like October, and it's already time to say goodbye. It seems so NOT RIGHT. Sigh.

Your story is much more exciting than mine. My daughter, then just turned 18 (Feb 2004) was at her best friend's house and was introduced by "force" to watch ep. 101/102 & 103 by force. She was hooked and then it took her 3 days of begging me to watch with her--she borrowed all of S1 dvd's from her friend and we started at 104. I was hooked. After 2 more episodes we back-tracked and watched 101/102 & 103 for my benefit and I was in love with B/J. We watched all of S1 & S2 in 2 weeks. We freaked when after investing all that energy Justin ran off with Ethan. We ordered S3 dvd's in advance through Showtime to get next day delivery (we were nuts). We watched them about a million times (I love ep. 314) and then got a second set of them at a signing in Cambridge, MA with Thea, Michelle & GALE (drooling over the memory). I also won the radio trivia they were doing there and got a radio station t-shirt that they signed and is now framed and hanging in my daughter's room. Then I discovered WLM site shortly before S4 started airing ( ... )

If I had been watching at a time when S3 wasn't at blockbuster, I would have freaked and ordered them next day too. I AM SO FAR GONE.

OMG "What Love Means" was an incredible place.

You forgot to mention that you have written wonderful fanfic!

I came in late, I was switching stations and landed on the end of 301 when brian has the hustler . . . I was completely facinated by both the naked men and the naked emotion in that scene . . . and I went looking for more ;)

FLASHBACK TO 2000 WHEN I WAS SITTING AROUND, INCREDIBLY BORED AND LOOKING AT MY TV GUIDE. I saw the ad. I was interested by the idea of a british show coming to the United States although I wasn't clear on whether it was literally a british import or a remake. I planned to watch it starting from the premiere! I REALLY MEANT TO!

Except I forgot. Back then, during the dark ages, I did not have Showtime On Demand, so I couldn't just go watch what I missed, and I have this thing where if I'm going to watch a show it has to be from the beginning, so it fell out of my head. Sometimes I'd see references to it or run into the DVDs at Best Buy and think "woe, I wanted to watch that!" In fact! I kind of wanted to buy the dvds, but they were too expensive. LITTLE DID I KNOW HOW IRRELEVANT THAT EXPENSE WOULD BECOME ( ... )
