Based on kahvi's Not Enough. If there's anything good in this fic, blame her...
Again, major spoilers for Last Human.

I wanted to know the man he really was.

Gah! You and kahvi are just as bad as eachother. Both of you manage to get down to the nitty gritty of the characters and it just blows me away.

*sigh*

You know me - not good at massive reviews ... but I liked it. A lot =)

Ye Gods woman, that was beautiful! I'm doubly glad I wrote that fic now, so that this could get written. I blame you! You alone! Bwahaha!

I like Mike's voice (it's like I can't type his name either, lol); something midways between Ace and Arn. Very fitting.

How dare my father not live up to my expectations?
*mumbles something about apples and trees*

And when I look out over the farm that I helped Dave to build and seed; when I hold his boys on my knees and make them laugh as their mother smiles indulgently; when I compliment Cat's newest outfit, or plot an improved irrigation system with Kryten,
When I cure cancer in my lunch break, when I rescue orphans from white slavery... Oh, wait... For some reason this made me laugh out loud! What a guy! ;)

The images of Red Dwarf were eerily real.

The final paragraphs... So beautiful...

When I see Lister's eyes shine with love and desire for the man he deceives himself into thinking I am, I know just what kind of man my father was.Wowowowow... *sniff* *sob ( ... )

Yes, he's a Stu - what can you do? ;) And anyone who's a Stu like that is going to look like an asshole at certain angles - it's the nature of the beast. Cool and self-confident has its limitations, just as neurotic and self-doubting does.

Awww, I'm glad you feel better! *another hug*

Thanks! Yes, I read Not Enough, and thought that there was something more than pain there - it's a bit of a switchup, Kahvi taking the darker side and me taking the more optimistic one! It has to do with the proximity to April 1, I think. *shuffle back to my angst den*

Please, someone pull me out of the angst den!

Anyway, it's nice, definitely, seeing the contrast in tone - especially in the ending!
