I'm going to be shutting down my LJ soon. I've moved over to Facebook since it is faster, easier, and I have some old high school contacts etc. that are on it. I have many from my friend's list on here already friended over there. If you aren't on my friend's list on FB and would like to be, let me know through commenting on here.  My LJ will go

To me, quitting LJ for Facebook is like saying you prefer Coming Attractions to the movies themselves.

I will miss the length and depth to which you can post on LJ, but then again, I never really felt like anyone was reading my stuff anyway. And to go 10 weeks with no post and not a word from anyone kind of confirms that. I'm not saying I'm a comment whore, but FB is much more immediate and reactionary. I may do some sort of actual blog in the future, that isn't a social blog, but for now I just don't have the time or desire to do multiple ones. And I am choosing not to do duplicate posts across the sites since if you are on someone's list on both you don't want to see the same thing posted both places.

I hate to hear this, Andy. I'm not a fan of Facebook. I think it's too superficial, that people edit themselves way too much, and I've got too many friends who are just not themselves (i.e. gay) on there because of family members, old school buddies, or whatever. I don't think it's the best way to keep in contact with people, but if it works for you, so be it.

I'll miss your posts on here.

I guess, all I'd ask is not to delete/purge your LJ account (which is what I thought you meant; correct me if I'm wrong). You wouldn't even have to necessarily maintain it, but at least leave it open as a means of communication. :)

I use facebook for folks (family and friends) I know personally and can yet maintain a kind of superficiality with them, and still be connected.
