the doctor's wife

This is some kind of record for me. Actually doing a reaction post on the same night the episode went out. (Well, technically it's Sunday now but I haven't been to bed yet so it still counts.) So, here goes with some rather squeeful thoughts on The Doctor's Wife...

  • Suranne Jones in a beautiful dress, getting her soul removed by an Ood. Swiftly followed by someone knocking on the TARDIS door while it's in space. I like this episode already.

  • "Didn't feel like himself unless he had the tattoo. Or herself, a couple of times." And so it officially becomes canon. Hee.
  • YES! IDRIS IS THE TARDIS! THIS IS EVERYTHING I EVER WANTED. Ever since I first heard Zagreus with its Evil!Brig!TARDIS, I have been desperately hoping we'd get a personification of the TARDIS on the show. AND NOW IT'S HERE ON MY TV SCREEN. THANK YOU, MR GAIMAN. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH. ♥♥♥
  • Suranne Jones is just brilliant in this role. She's running around kissing the Doctor and biting him and being wonderfully mad. I adore her. And I loved that she kept calling out for her 'thief'!
  • "You want to be forgiven." / "Don't we all?" Oh, Doctor.
  • They've got a cupboard full of dead Time Lords. That's creepy. Poor Doctor. Oh, and Auntie and Uncle are made of bits of dead Time Lords. That's even more creepy.
  • She makes the noise!
  • "The first time you touched my console you said..." / "I said you were the most beautiful thing I had ever known." / "And then you stole me. And I stole you." / "I borrowed you." / "Borrowing implies the eventual intention to return the thing that was taken. What makes you think I would ever give you back?" SO BEAUTIFUL.
  • "I think you call me... Sexy." / "Only when we're alone!" I love that she doesn't really understand names. He's Thief, she's Sexy and Amy's the Orangey Girl.

  • House, why are you so creepy? I am enjoying getting to see more of the TARDIS though.
  • And now they're doing some old-married-couple bickering. "You didn't always take me where I wanted to go." / "No, but I always took you where you needed to go." That's pretty much their whole relationship summed up in two sentences. I love her insistance that she stole him and not the other way round.
  • AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH OLD ANGRY RORY. WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO THEM, HOUSE? WHY IS THERE MORE SCARY WRITING? AND WHY IS RORY DEAD AGAIN? STOP IT. STOP IT NOW.
  • THE TARDIS THINKS RORY'S THE PRETTY ONE. ♥

  • UUUUGGGGGHHHH SHE PUT HER HAND IN THE OOD'S DANGLY FACE STUFF.
  • OLD TARDIS CONTROL ROOM! (I should really try and lay off the capslock...)
  • "Did you wish really hard?" :D
  • Oh, Rory's looking after her while she's dying. She likes it when the Doctor calls her old girl. ♥
  • "You took her from her home. But now she's back in the box again and she's free!" Go on TARDIS, sort him out!
  • "I just wanted to say... hello. Hello, Doctor. It's so very, very nice to meet you." / "Please. I don't want you to. Please." I just can't it when he cries. That was so beautiful and sad. And did I imagine it or did she say I love you as she faded away? CRYING FOREVER.
  • Clearly it's a sign that I've read those teasers too many times but as soon as I heard Rory talking about forests, I knew her message would be "the only water in the forest is the river". I'm assuming it's some reference to River (and maybe Forest of the Dead?) but I don't know what exactly.
  • BUNK BEDS. ILU DOCTOR.
  • I love that last scene so much. Talking to her and twirling around like the mad old man that he is, like he's never been happier in his life.

So, in summary: THAT WAS AMAZING. I haven't got the words. It was everything I wanted and more. It was beautiful and heart-breaking and I loved it so. And it made Doctor/TARDIS canon. It's already up there as one of my favourite episodes ever and I know I'm going to watch it over and over again.

doctor who: s6, episode reaction, who-induced excitement!
