How about a potluck hors d'oeuvres/BYOB cocktails thing? It's fun to have everyone bring two dip-slash-single-bite yummies. Hummus, sausage balls, cheeses, spinach-artichoke dip - always a good time, and everyone loves shiny new munchies. Mixers are also pretty cheap.
And as long as you toss everything under the bed and have a clean guest bathroom, no one really cares about the state of the housework.

BIG YAY! I got invited to a thing I kinda can't refuse, wanna go to Thirsty Ear Tavern at 8:00 and watch some Improv? They have foods there (I hear though I have never eaten there). I am trying to bust into the Improve thing with the hopes of getting some Corporate gigs that pay actual cash. Big dream is to get paid to make other people laugh. This is kinda step one. If not, or if you want a more *ahem* intimate conversational setting I am probably also free for dinner tomorrow night and we can go wherever you would like. I say probably because I am not sure if Mike will be coming in tonight or tomorrow and I am not sure what time he will be arriving. If he gets here before dinner we can all go. He would love to meet you. In any case, I am fairly certain the party is on, housework be damned!
