Why the hell did the old man have to finish him on the worst day of the entire year? Valentine's Day was definitely that, and Proto didn't even have much against it. Everything was overdone here, especially when it came to consumerism. That's all this holiday was, really. Just for making a profit.
He snapped out on his thoughts long enough to make a wide loop around two Defense Force officers coming his way. There were too many of them in Central, way too many, and they'd never fail to ake him jittery. On the other hand... he had to get Xao something. And it wasn't like anyone but her knew it was his birthday then, so all he had to concentrate on was getting her something.
That, and he still owed Ashu that date. And he needed to apologize to Rock,check on Videoman, and talk to Jess as well. Maybe trying to settle down somewhere wasn't the best idea after all. He paused by the fountain, sighing. Maybe he just needed a break from everyone.
