I'm working on another fanfic (yes, amarissia, *THAT* one...) and it got me to wondering: how fast do you write ( Read more... )

*evil snickering in Angeal's direction*

So much time. So very much time. *headkeyboard* I just need more willpower, I think. Last night I managed to write a whole page and a half before my brain shut down.

hrhrhrhr... He's definitely *not* going to like this...

*ponders whether she should go into excruciating detail - or gloss over some of the parts...*

Nope. It's not a willpower thing, I think. It's inspiration. Ok. It's also a lot of sweat and tears and rewriting and so on. But if it doesn't flow at least a *little* bit, it doesn't go *anywhere*!

A whole page and a half! That's great!

It depends. When I used to write on a regular basis I could crank out 5-7 thousand words during a three hour stint at the bookstore cafe, especially if it was something I was really into. Of course now I write a paragraph over days and feel like I've accomplished something :P

Wow! That much? I think I type too slow... >.>

I have days where I keep rewriting the same sentence over and over again, because it's just not working. But I'm trying very hard to just *keep* writing. No matter what. Which is why I let the muse run away with that totally abstruse idea that I'm currently working on... >.>

I wanted to see if I could make something out of the thought.

Well, I write very quickly... when I'm actually writing. Unfortunately, the vast majority of my time is spent simply sitting in front of my computer visualizing and not being able to put it into words. It's completely sporadic. I can put down 2k words in an hour and then spend another 3 days not being able to come up with the next line.

I wish I had the patience and talent to express my ideas visually, but I do not. I may not enjoy writing, but at least my shaky, arthritic hands can't sabotage my works when I'm just wrangling words. XD

Considering how much distraction you seem to be dealing with, I'd say you're writing at a pretty darned good clip. Keep it up, I can't wait for your next piece. ^.^

I do have days when it really flows. And my fingers start hurting (I've got arthritis in the top fingerjoints... *sigh* so I know how you feel) but I keep going because it's just flowing and I don't want to jinx it.

And then, just like you, I sit there and try and try and rewrite the same sentence again and again until I finally give up.

You write great! I love your fics! :) Always so visual and evocative. :)

I know all about the visual thing. I so wish I could draw, because I *see* the stories, rather than hear them. >.>

Ok. If you think I'm doing ok time-wise, then I'll get right back to it... This one is kind of... wierd, though...

From the comments, I'm guessing Angeal is in for a rough time. That's just dandy with me. I am all for some Angeal torture. He doesn't get it enough. x3

Well, it's not so much *rough*, as... wierd. >.>

That's one of those things. If I'm really inspired I can crank out 10k in a night. If I'm fighting it, 250 words is work.

Last night, it was a good night, so I managed about 19k. Two chapters, more or less. But there have been times when it took me a week to get out a 2,000 word promise.

So, there you have it. the weirdness that is Yanagi.

19k! O.O

Wow! That's... a lot of words! ^___^;

But I know what you mean. Sometimes it just *flows*. And then it's slower than molasses from the freezer.

So I guess there's no real right answer. When the muse sings, we type our hands off. When he's silent, we tear our hair out in frustration.

*sigh*

Nope, not wierd at all. :) Sounds like normal to me... ^___^

Wow! I tried NaNo, but never managed to finish. Last year I *almost* made it - was missing only about 5000 words... *sigh* But then again, I'd started in the middle of the month, so I didn't really have as much time as I should have.

8000! That's so cool!

Ok. I think I've done school assignments in one go - but that's... a while back. >.> I don't remember what I wrote back then. But that was in the time before PCs... using only a typewriter... *shudders*

But 50,000! That is *sooo* cool! :)
