I had an absolute blast at Madrigal. Not surprising, because I usually do these days, but there were a few surprising moments ( Read more... )

Did you see how quick the 3 vampires exited when the word "Shetra" was said? There might have been little smoke trails.

In other news, nine Shetra nexus to tap plus having saved all of my per-weekend skills mean that I AM AN ICE MACHINE. Holy crap. Double 5 Damage By Ice for everybody!

You just made my point of controlled PC's not holding back and allowing most of the rest of the town to be taken.

I'm unsure of how I just made your point, mostly because I'm not sure what your point was. (If you posted about it, my apologies - I haven't had time to read everybody's LJ this morning.)

However, let me say this - I never hold back on the NPCs either. If you're implying that I went to town because I like to PK...well, I'm not entirely sure how to take that, because I'm hoping you weren't meaning to be offensive. Yes, my stats were slightly increased because of the fact that the Shetra have a lot of nexus, and yes, I used my stats. What was the reason not to?

As you have read my post and all the responses, my point was, once plot controls a PC, allows them their entire stat card, (plus a little more it seems in your case with extra Nexus to pull from) and then allows them to control other PC's, one gets what happened over the weekend. Shetra PC's with no restraints to not go 100% taking other PC's with no real plot control behind them.

As I said, plot can down stat or tell NPC's to back off when it reaches a critical mass like that.

It ended up a situation that spiraled out of control once 35-40% controlled was reached and didn't stop until 75% of the PC base was taken and who knows what would have happened if the weather didn't shut the game down.

In the end, what happened, happened and there isn't much that can be done now except have staff read the PEL's and see how many take the "rescued off screen" option.

Oh, and no issues with going weapons free on all NPC's.

As I said, plot can down stat or tell NPC's to back off when it reaches a critical mass like that.

My point, however, is that in my opinion this shouldn't happen. If we, the PCs, are getting totally fucked in a fight, then I don't WANT plot to down-stat or tell the NPCs to back off. I trust the plot staff in the games I play. I trust that if they give us a fight, then they'll stat it so we can take care of it or they'll help us figure out how to get un-fucked afterward. I hate feeling like plot handed a fight to us because we were getting pressed. But again, that's me, and I don't mind losing.

(Note: I am not saying that backing-off shouldn't happen for OOG reasons. And in that Saturday night fight, there were a number of times when the Shetra (both PC and NPC) called down our lines to stop pressing because of OOG space concerns. So this isn't what I'm talking about.)

Plus Lona didn't perm, so bonus. :)

Definitely a bonus. I didn't really think a whole lot about how bad the ritual would be until I was standing there watching her chant and hearing her call 'Inflict to Self by Malediction'. :shudder:

- Getting webbed into my own bed and inflicted by one of my cabin-mates. Thanks go out to [info]inadvertantsmut for hearing my tiny little "Help?" and cutting me out of my bunk.

That is hilarious. I had no idea who was going to end up with that inflict or who they would try to catch. Was so amused to hear it ended up being a two-for-one.

Glad that you had fun.

"but I like to think that I helped with the "implementing" part (in a "GUYS!! Stop getting so spread out and get your asses back here to protect the wands!!" kind of way)."

Much appreciated help there :) knew going in that I was going to be leading my team....found it a bit surprising when it turned out Nev was leading an entire side of the fight hehe.

Those wands sure made a difference. I can't tell you how many times I would start walking over only to hear that call and cover my light for the requisite time.

And sometimes you even got extra bonus multipliers when we weren't sure which one you were pointing at ;)
