photoshop basics tutorial 1

i've had a few photoshop basics questions during the last couple of days, so i thought i'd make a simple tutorial, just to introduce some of the tools. this is by no means a display of all the tools i use in an icon, just an example of some simple tricks. i'll also use one simple gradient layer to show what layers can do

Just breezing through from a link off of (I think) metaquotes...This is really neat! I've not got Photoshop so I don't think I've easy access to actual burn and sponge tools (only layers), but I think I can approximate it...thanks so much!
