I am *thisclose* to abandoning ff.net entirely. It's one thing to have people tell me I don't know what I'm doing, or to miss the point of a fic. It's another thing entirely to be accused of plagiarism, especially when the person won't even have the decency to leave a reply link.

On the plus side, they accused me of plagiarizing wave_obscura, or at least of ( Read more... )

rant, pit of voles, fandom is crazy

Demons I get. People are crazy.

I think that puts it in a nutshell.

Ugh. Fanfiction.net, you're being dumb again. *facepalm* Seriously, except that you both write h/c, I think that you and wave_obscura have very distinct styles, and I'm puzzled that someone could think that you were plagiarizing her. Was it about a specific story?

Yep, one specific story. Well, at least, the review was for that story, so I'm assuming it is.

*shrug*

I looked at the paragraph she pointed out, and I guess I can sort of see the resemblance. Then again, maybe 100 people have read the story, and she's the first to say anything about it. I don't know if wave_obscura has read the story, but if she had I'm hoping she'd have said something if she felt her artistic integrity was being violated that way. ;)

Some people shouldn't be allowed near the internet should they?

Good grief.

I'm sorry you had to put up with such an arse love.

(I get serious migraines. Are yours focal? What are you on for yours? Because sometimes the medicine can make them worse not better.)

Enh, it's fanfiction.net. I should be used to the wank by now. I'm just cranky. ;)

I've been getting classic migraines since I was eight years old. Aura followed by blinding pain, and when they're really bad there's puking involved. Good times.

For a while I was on prescription meds, but for me the main trigger is stress, so I can usually get away with Excedrin and a long nap. This is the first time in *years* I've still had the damned migraine after sleeping the whole night. I blame the basement renovations.

Well I think you're entitled to be cranky my love. I've not hit on any wank over at FF.net but I imagine that's because my fic is so minimal i'm never on anyones list ( ... )

*hugs*

Oh, man, the days of three-day migraines are long past me (I hope!). That really sucks, sweetie.

I'm already feeling better now the meds are kicking in. Not great, but I can look at the computer without squinting, so yay!

I was lucky and got dragged to a neurologist at the children's by my parents.

"Do you see coloured lights or spots?"

"Doesn't everybody?"

I still remember that conversation. It never occurred to me that what I was experiencing wasn't normal.

The renovations, alas, are STILL not done.

I don't even know what story you're talking about and I don't need to-- BITCH PLEASE, I say, BITCH PLEASE. First of all, I'm not even sure how one would go about plagiarizing fanfiction. It's, uh, FANFICTION.

Second, our writing styles are different, THE END. I can declare with total confidence, sight unseen, that you didn't plagiarize me.

I'd be honored if you did, though :P

*snerk*

The ONLY consolation I got out of it was that I was accused of plagiarizing someone whose work I like and admire. I think I might have been insulted if it was a bad writer, you know? ;)

I figured you would have said something if you were mortally offended by my prose. I'm just annoyed at this random, quasi-anonymous person taking it upon themselves to accuse me of plagiarism.

Don't abandon ff.net please. Sometimes its the only place that I can read a story because of the vagaries of my work internet connection, but typically I end up (eventually) reviewing on lj if I can because then I don't have to worry about avoiding spoilers.

The problem with ff.net is that some people get an account just so they can leave bad reviews and not have them removed easily. My beta stumbled across this last year when someone left such a thing on one of her stories. And all I could think was, "you have the time and energy to do this? Really?"

In the end, you have to write for yourself.

Now I have to go to work, but hopefully I can come back and review your stuff later.

I'm not at the point where I'll abandon it just yet, but every comment like that drives me a little closer to the edge.

I just wish people could be grown-ups about this.

Thanks for the good thoughts!
