Might anyone else be interested in playing Forever Knight in the rarewomen fest?

Title of Fandom: Forever Knight
Medium: television, 3 seasons (70 episodes), 1992-1996
Description of some AWESOME ladies: FK's outstanding female characters begin with Doctor Natalie Lambert, coroner for the city of Toronto; club owner Janette Ducharme, thousand-year-old vampire; Detective Tracy Vetter, rookie with many new worlds opening before her; and Captain Amanda Cohen, department veteran. In addition to them, I'm still devoted to Fleur de Brabant, the protagonist's brainy sister and one of the villains' obsessions; Urs, a singer burdened by abandonment issues but buoyed by a moral sensitivity unusual in her milieu; and many others...

Might anyone else be interested in playing Young Blades in the rarewomen fest?

Title of Fandom: Young Blades
Medium: television, 1 season (13 episodes), 2005
Description of some AWESOME ladies: In this The Three Musketeers-like historical fiction, farmer's daughter Jacqueline Roget masquerades as disinherited nobleman's son "Jacques Laponte" in order to join the Musketeers, avenge her family, and defeat the evil cardinal. Anne of Austria is Queen Regent of France, posing as superficial and flighty in public but maneuvering behind the scenes to preserve the nation for her adolescent son. Other women characters include Lady Charlotte Larousse, Elise Parisot, Emanuelle (the Cafe Nouveau waitress), Mimou (Captain Duval's niece), and Liana (the sorceress).

1. Where would one find this series?

2. Have you seen The Rose of Versailles? It is an anime but I think you might like it based on the description of this show.

Thanks for asking!

>"Where would one find this series?"

Snippets from Young Blades are here.

Unfortunately, it's not easily available. It aired on Pax (now Ion) in the US and in syndication in other countries. As I understand it, InSight Studios created just one limited, in-house run of DVDs (with more footage than aired in the US). I have been hunting for one of those DVD sets to buy for years! I personally have only VHS copies that I recorded from US TV during the original run.

Many of its actors are a bit famous, at least in fandom -- Bruce Boxleitner, Sheena Easton, Michael Ironside, Charles Shaughnessy, Karen Cliche, etc. -- and I would think that DVDs would attract their fans...

>"Have you seen The Rose of Versailles?"

No, I haven't. I will look into it; thank you. I love historical fiction, and don't mind anime at all (Rurouni Kenshin is a favorite).

Thanks. While I don't think I will request it, Young Blades sounds like something I might like. So I will try to find it, and if I watch it soon enough maybe it would be something I'd offer.

Oh, and you also might like Le Chevaler d'Eon

That is a legal stream for the first episode, but it might be region locked if you are outside the US. The series is pretty smegging awesome.

Late to this party, but OMG, MEDEA. She may be my favorite literary figure EVER. <3 And Persephone, Artemis, and Pasiphae, whom no one else appreciates. I will most likely be offering and requesting both.

Medium: Video Game
Description of some AWESOME ladies: The problem here is that this is a game with important plot twists and I don't want to spoil it for anyone with the slightest chance of eventually playing it. I would be interested in all the ladies however, meaning Clover, Lotus, and June. So I wanted to post this comment in case there are some other fans out there.

Here is the Wikipedia entry but be aware that it is filled with said enormous spoilers.

Title of Fandom: Professor Layton
Medium: ongoing video game series (each game stands alone)
Description of some AWESOME ladies: What about Claire, Layton's former fiancee and awesome lady scientist? Or Flora, who had the courage to leave a world that revolved around her? There's Emmy, Layton's faithful assistant, or any of the interesting/helpful/weird/wonderful NPC characters that Layton meets on his journey!
