Whenever I go there I always have to laugh at the rock that's painted like a watermelon. (Have you seen it?) I pass it on my way there from Hegenberger Road.

Oh, I've seen the watermelon slice. Do you know how long that thing has graced that particular stretch of the shore? gwynny suspects at least 20 years.

I think she could be right - I think I saw it sometime around 1984 or thereabouts. Someone must come around and paint it quite regularly - there is no way that the colors could stay as bright as they are otherwise....
