*smiles* So... I'm pretty sure this cripples me with the double geek tag, but that's all right. Spending my Saturday night playing a computer game with last_bastion while we listen to Rent and Jesus Christ Superstar on occasion is a fantastic way to invest my time. Never mind the fact that we listened to Dracule the musical while we were running around town ( Read more... )

Yeah... fringe angels. That was one of my favorite parts, too. I remember that moment of OMGs you're kidding me awe watching Judas come 'descend from heaven' with all of that white hanging off of the arms. Never mind the dancing chicks that come out of the arch behind him...

... I was telling last_bastion last night that I need to DVR those old Soul Train episodes so I can learn how to throw my hips around like those women. Hotness... utter... hotness.

I can understand the love of Mary in that movie as well. "I Don't Know How to Love You"... fantastic song. But, the lyrics in general in this show are fantastic.

Yeah... he definitely made the show. I understand that there was some level of controversy when the film came out based on him being black, but the actor does a wonderful job of both performing the songs and relaying an internal conflict and pain over the whole circumstance.

Well, no disrespect to the late Carl Anderson, but there's only one Ben Vereen.

Rent and Jesus Christ Superstar - both fun :D
(and well done)

In many ways, "Jesus Christ Superstar" embodied a step after the culture my parents were trying for.... oddly enough.

You need to listen to A New Brain. With a young Kristen Chenowerth (Glenda from Wicked) and Chip Zien (the Baker from Into the Woods) it played at Lincoln Center in 1998, and has never recieved it's due (click here for poor quality video of the first song... I picked it because it actually has the original cast but the sound is horrible.

However, it has my favorite love song that ever came out of musical theater (I'd Rather Be Sailing) and a number called Change which is about pocket change that only acknowledges the play on words in one amazing bit that I've been known to play over and over and over.
