Editing images;

I am sitting here alternating between all of my photoshops and scratching my head. What does everyone use to edit their sim pictures in? I've been doing the basic "re-size, sharpen, add border" thing for far too long and I want my images to look a bit more contrasty and not so dingy ( Read more... )

Pfft, I use the in-game camera. I don't have time or inclination to 1. download Photoshop, 2. make sure Fraps is open all the time, 3. download some kind of image sorting/renaming program, 4. crop, resize, edit, sharpen all of my images, 5. not go INSANE from all the effort when in-game pictures are already perfectly sized and conveniently stashed in folders. It's not worth it to me, especially when screencaps are really not a huge quality improvement from my in-game snapshots.

/semi-rant :P

haha! I use the in-game camera as well, it just bothers me for some reason why my images come out slightly darker then I would like them to. I'm all about bright and contrasty, but that could be my inner photo major coming out :P I finally just went with CS3 and opened the files a couple at a time to avoid them disappearing off of my program.

XD I think images lose a bit of clarity anyway when uploading them to a photo hosting site, or something. I'm content using the in-game camera, but if you want to try moar screencapping, I hope you find something you like.

Yeah, I've noticed photobucket tends to eat jpg's alive, so I've switched over to saving them as png files and they are a-okay! :]

I really, really suggest downloading Gadwin Printscreen. You can set it to automatically open upon start-up, and set which key you want to trigger the screenshot. You can also choose want you you want the files to be named (for example, SimsScreenshot#XXX) and where they'll be saved.
If you use it with the 'No Red Pause Line' mod, it saves you from having to crop the pictures, especially if you take them all in 'tab mode'

I personally use iPhoto for my editing, but Picasa is a decent program for simple things. Changing the contrast, the temperature... Simple things. Plus cropping! You can batch edit too, which is good for the basic sharpening and stuff.

I hope some of this was a little bit useful? :)

It was very useful, thank you! :]
I've never used a printscreen program before, I've grown so used to just hitting the tab button and then organizing them in their folder by 'date modified' so they are in order. And oh man, batch edit is always a plus! I think I still might have picassa somewhere on this computer, I'll have to check it out!

Awh, I'm glad!
Yeah, with Gadwin you don't have to minimise the game either, since each time you hit the button you chose to (I just left it on the obvious 'PrintScreen' button) it saves it automatically, straight away.
Oh and another thing, when you use it you can take shots as quickly after the other as you want, because that stuoid in-game camera doesn't flash and wreck the shot. :P
Good luck sweetie!
