Has anyone else seen Avatar yet?  What did you think of it?  I went to see it this afternoon and I enjoyed it, but I wasn't blown away by it.  It was visually impressive even without seeing it in 3D, the colors and landscapes, etc., were stunning, but the story just seemed... I don't know... predictable, I guess.  I don't want to give things away

That's exactly the kind of movie the previews suggested it would be--great special effects, thin story. Too bad. Story first. Always story first.

And a nice happy ending because that's what audiences have to have...

My hubby wants to see it; I could care less, because of what I've heard about the thin plot. I tend to not be impressed by visuals if they come at the sacrifice of a good story. Call me old school. :)

I hadn't heard that about the plot, I'd just been hearing rave reviews of it so I was looking forward to seeing it. And, as I said, visually it was stunning so I was glad I saw it for that reason. I should have remembered how seldom I agree with reviewers! :)
