So saw where the wild things are last night. It was a group of about 12, three of them were friends, a couple acquaintances, and the rest i didn't know at all. After the movie it was a little awkward, a few people took off right away, but a bunch of them just wanted to hang out in the parking lot and just talk and talk and talk. My awkwardness didn ( Read more... )

good review, you got me! I'll probably rent it though, unless I can find some interested peeps to go see it with me on a $4.50 Tuesday. you know what's funny, I used to HATE the word "peeps" and would never say it and would shudder when people said it, and now I totally say it. that also goes for "hella" and one other thing, what is it, I forget. oh "sketch" as in "sketched out" or "that is sketch", I hate it when it's overused but I do use it sometimes now, am I conforming?! :-O whatever. I STILL hate "peoples" though it just sounds terrible 95% of the time ugh.

anyway that girl sounds stupid, and cold-parking lot conversations sound really awkward and cold lol, people are funny. I'd be willing to bet most of the people there felt awkward too and that's the very thing that had them standing in a cold parking lot listening to one girl ramble. lol.

i'm surprised your friends aren't interested in seeing it, the previews alone are practically a cult phenomenon- but what do i know, maybe they think it's too ... mainstream shtick or something, i dunno. Talked to Cinnamon today, and he liked it too, but he said his friend he went with didn't he thought it was "pointless" and cinnamon said "and i was like ... what?? what??" haha, oh cinnamon, he's so funny when he tells stories. Anywayss ... peeps, haha, that's funny, i still never say it- but i don't hate it really. I never hear anyone say sketch though- the closest to that is "sketchy" you know, like "that dark ally way looks a little sketchy to me!!" Peoples ... it depends, I don't really hear that too often either, i think it depends on who says it though, like if someone i didnt like said it, i'd be like "ughhhh how irritating" but if someone i like did, i'd forgive it ( ... )

oh I didn't say my friends weren't interested lol, I just haven't asked anyone. and Dustin doesn't like seeing movies. that's cute about cinibuns haha. yeah people around here say "that's sketch" or even just "skeeetch!" and I used to dislike it, mainly cuz certain idiots said it, but it's grown on me. yeah, I can forgive a use of "peoples", it still will make me shudder inside though.

hahaha that's funny about the hey girl and girl etc thing! actually I don't know what other people think, but I've always got the impression that you were mocking the kinda people that say girl when you say it lol. I know you so well!! haha, I just never thought to ask if there was actually a story behind it.

lol @ the girl who suggested leaving like 5 times. XD

I'm so frightened that I'll see that movie, and it will go against what I remember it being as a kid. I can't take it. It would be like if they made a "Love You Forever" movie and made it an Oxygen original. I'd be sooo mad.

Man. "Love You Forever" makes me cry.

From what I read, the movie is really based on what Spike Jonze got from it when he was a kid. While i was watching it, I thought a lot about Max, and how auto biographical the movie might be in terms of the early events of the film, and the things Max was feeling and the way he acted. This movie is really true to child behavior and that's what i really loved about it.

I can understand your delema though- i mean, this movie isn't really what I got from the book as a kid- or what i get from it today when i re-read it as a semi-grown up, but seeing it from Spike's perspective is really interesting and a great experience.

Did they imply that Max was mischievous because his mother was neglectful? The previews made it seem like that, and that I have a problem with. He was just a naughty child.
