These two are actually very good together. Kohaku makes Kikyou want to save him and Kohaku is so chivalrous in trying to protect Kikyou. His concern is touching for someone who will sacrifice him.

I agree. I really thought Kikyou and Kohaku matched up well as companions. They had similar lives of suffering.
