Duela rolled her eyes at first then smirked at him. "You think she's Wayne's? I always imagined she was Grayson's. Kyle spent more time flitting about the city with him."

"Wasn't Grayson one of his bastards, too? I suppose it'll all come out once Wayne dies and the squabble over his estate begins." He shrugged. "But, as I said, we really can't complain much, can we?"

"Wayne liked socialites, not circus performers, so I doubt Grayson was his," Duela replied, laughing a bit. "And I most certainly can complain. Joshua deserves far better than some vapid socialite."

"Well, we can't be sure what's going on. Whatever it is, though, should distract him from any jealousy he might feel regarding your trip. I'd say that ought to be cause for you to let it be for the moment."

"I'd be more than happy to take him with me next time if he wanted to go," Duela murmured. She chuckled faintly. "He just always seemed far more interested in his own plans than in leaving the country with me for a time."
