RIGHT, SHAVE ICE!! AND--well other people can have shrimp because I don't like seafood, but YEESSS

...I can probably manage an alleyway pic. Because alleyway involves running away immediately after! ;DD

1 of the best places for shave ice (& there is NO "D" at the end of "shave") is Matsumoto's--it's actually Matsumoto's grocery store, a grocery store which also has a big business in shave ice--on the North Shore. I saw it mentioned years ago on a PBS special about great ice cream parlors (even though shave ice isn't exactly ice cream). Also, I think Peter Lenkov & the writing/production team went to Matsumoto's during their last trip to the set; I seem to remember PL Tweeting a pic showing Matsumoto's anyway, & the people on the trip mentioning having shave ice around the same time ( ... )

Oh wow, THANK YOU!! I will definitely be checking these things out! I'm really excited to try the shave ice--we have a booth at the state fair that sells it but it's always surrounded by bees so I avoid it like the plague. And I honestly don't mind if I don't see the actors, I'm really, really dumb around celebrities ;D

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAA nope.

(Is that a thing people actually do? Like, vacation to hawaii specifically so they can wait around forever in the blurry distance?)

You shouldn't keep your eyes peeled for the H5O actors that way when you run smack dab into them, it would be way to awkward for you to run the other way. ;)

Ohhhh no, because gawping at them like a fish is not actually less awkward than running screaming in the other direction (MY FIGHT/FLIGHT RESPONSE IS PRETTY MUCH JUST FLIGHT, HONESTLY)

The north shore is totally awesome, and the Polynesian Cultural Center (run by BYU Hawaii) is neat, too. The Iolani Palace is a cool museum and also near Dog the Bounty Hunter's storefront. ;-)

It's been many years since I've been there, but we really enjoyed the Sea Life Park and Waimea Falls (in addition to everything the previous commenter listed).

Oooooo! I'll be honest, the last time we were in Hawaii I got so freaking sick of waterfalls, but that was because we were literally stopping at every. single. one. If I can make my parents keep it in the low teens, we'll be good! But man, I just looked up Waimea Falls and they are super gorgeous. I'll let them put it on the list ;DD

Ha, when my four kids were ages ranging from 3-13 we took a "national parks tour" in which we saw the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, Yellowstone, and Dinosaur National Monument. When I tried to get them to look at the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs on the way home, the finally rebelled. "I refuse to look at ONE MORE STUPID ROCK!" was heard in the minivan that day, I can tell you. :D

LOL. ...IIIII may or may not have had the same reaction. In Ireland. To castles.

TO BE FAIR, WE WERE AGAIN HITTING UP SIX OR SEVEN CASTLES A DAY. And when you're nine, cultural significance means fuck all.
