So, A while ago I went back and started re-reading QC, just because. I'm getting to where they meet Hanners, and I don't remember her starting off like this. She was smoking in the bathroom at the bar. Has she ever smoked again since? Didn't remember her hair being quite that long, either ( Read more... )

Yes, it was mentioned in a later comic that she was heavily medicated at the time, and given that other examples of her being super-heavily medicated have come up it's not that unlikely.

And yes, she did smoke at least a couple more times in later comics, and the subject of why she smokes was discussed in detail in the comic at least once.

I know. I did this too. I got SOO used to the HANNER's we all see now, but I have re-read this comic through going on my 4th time now (I just love it that much lol). Each time I see the original appearance of Hannalore I just think "wow her meds made her a different person back then."

But as other's stated, when they talked about her OCD & other issues, she mentioned that she had her medications to help with that, and that smoking was a break from her counting and a calmer for her.

I forget the approximate numbers, but there is a comic where Hanners gets her haircut, and one where she explains why she has so many piercings. :)
