Dream a little dream with me

Dec 22, 2008 12:57

The addition of a new medication starting two months ago has left me in an altered state of reality. We have been very slowly titrating upwards in dosage (i.e. a slow increase), and are not yet at the full level. The reasons for the slowness is the small, but not negligible, risk of death from the drug. It does seem to be working wonders, and ( Read more... )

I've been experiencing similar episodes. My dreams have been so vivid that I too have been confused as to whether or not they've actually happened. They're exhausting as well :(

It does get tiresome, in that I am not getting proper sleep on any night. But as a window into my brain, it has been quite fascinating.

o.0 Oh yes, well, there is that.

it is as though I dream the life of a real, existing person - that I am linked into his brain and memories and experience them as if they were my own.

Is it a ptownnyc dreaming of being a butterfly? Or a butterfly dreaming of being a "ptownnyc?

If I get my hands on that damn butterfly, I'm gonna smoosh him.

You do that, and you'll snuff out your own existence.
You'll be but a memory.

There's an awesome story by argentinian writer Julio Cortazar called "The Night Face Up" where the line between dreams and reality get all blurred up. It's in a collection called "Blow Up and Other Stories". I think you'd like it.

On a Monday morning, in the wee hours of the morning on your way to work, you have to knock on someone's door, wake them up, and ask if you left your medications there. It's kinda of a buzz kill.

FWIW, Seroquel would put an elephant to sleep for a month. I lost the sleeping problem a week ago.

You disgust me! Tramp!

As to Seroquel and its cousins - I am very reluctant to take sleeping aids, though I will if this doesn't calm down eventually. But every night? Eep!

Seroquel isn't a sleeping aid so to speak, its just a side effect (that and the tendency to gain weight). It's more of a medicine designed to keep you from dancing across the freeway, nekkid, in the snow at 3 am.

If you've ever heard of Ambien, I honestly did find myself walking around Market Street at 3 am in the rain in my boxer shorts, totally alert, yet asleep. The police woke me up, we got to my building door but I was locked out. I had to look around the building to see who was still up to buzz me in. I was mortified. The neighbor told me I had been walking around the atrium lobby many nights dressed like that. She thought I was going to the trash chute. Oy.

I want to spend my next vacation in your brain.

a) Fascinating to watch
b) Probably some tawdry bits
c) Potential control of appendages

LOL, you are an evil man.

It was entertaining last night too, but nothing graphic.
