OKAY SO. Despite the ups and downs of this experience in the past, my daily struggle with very public boredom has driven me to extremes ( Read more... )

ahh, the joys of commuting. i can only say that you get used to its conditions. in a way, i'm glad i grew up on public transportation--using it for school and university makes for a total of 15 years of nearly daily use of public transport--because now i don't really blink an eye at it.

anyway. does it have to be an ipod? because when i decided to buy a video/mp3 combo about a year ago, i went with the zen vision m, as it was cheaper and had a better quality screen than the ipod. i never had any problems with it, and i never had to deal with itunes. also, it automatically converts any video to a playable format :D.

I'm sort of getting used to it. :/ As long as I get there early enough to get a window seat facing forward, it's all right.

Never heard of Zen Vision M . . . but I've been researching different brands on CNet at work these last few weeks in preparation of a possible purchase :-" and as far as battery life and high quality screens go, iPods apparently hold their own. Zune is essentially the same price for the same features. The fact that I know how to work an iPod these days is another huge factor in the decision, since I am like an old person when it comes to upgrading technology. :)) I think iTunes will convert things into usable formats somehow, too, but I can't really experiment until I have one in my hands. Converting my collection isn't any trouble for a master program gypsy like myself, though. >:D

*nods*

you can see it here: http://www.creative.com/products/mp3/zenvisionm/ and then more specific product info here. it's not has thin as the ipod, but i don't mind. it means i am less likely to drop it :P. i think the main reasons why i bought is longer battery life and a higher quality screen compared to the ipod. and i really didn't want the hassle of itunes, but you already have that program installed. i can see how if you already have an ipod, buying an upgraded version might be easier or more convenient, but since i was just starting out, i went with the vision m :)

I will have to explore this between sucktomers at work tomorrow :-? although on first glance, it looks like it has a fraction of the hard drive space for a pretty steep price. >.> The one you linked to is $299 for 60GB, and the iPod one is 160GB for $349. . . .

CNet claimed that out of all the video mp3 players they've tested, iPods appear to have the longest battery life; hours longer than even Apple claims they've got. I'm no Apple slave like some people I know, but I know when to bow to something that has done well in (somewhat) unbiased consumer testing. :-?

Hello, random person! :D LJ isn't really the best way to help yourself fall asleep, unless you are bored with your flist. :)) Good luck, though.

When you are dealing with a choice between a two inch screen and a two and a half inch screen, you're kind of screwed either way, I expect. Everything looks tiny on my laptop because of the high screen resolution, so hopefully it would be less of a shock to my eyeballs. *_* Maybe I will go to the Apple store in our mall and molest each of the sizes, to see what I could tolerate looking at. I would expect their employees to push whatever is out at the moment to ensure themselves a commission that day, so it's hit or miss on getting accurate information from the source! :-? What is the iPod Lounge, and where do I find this keynote?

Um, well, I go to bed and the sleep refuses to come and then I get up again and turn the comp back on and surf for a bit and I've already read my flist by that time in any case so I looked at friendsfriends for a bit :P. I fell asleep eventually, I think I was too cold because boyfriend turned the heating reallylow again, :/ and I'm used to it being way turned up :P. So when I figured that out, I turned it waybackup again and I had much less trouble with falling asleep. I think someone needs a stern talking to :PI guess it depends on what you would want to watch on the ipod. Films that are made for the big screen I really wouldn't recommend watching on this tiny screen. I think you should definitely go to an apple store and look at them, hold them in your hand, look at how video looks on it etc. before you decide. The nano is really tiny! And I love that. But if you're already used to bulkier ipods, than maybe you'll like the big one better. Storagewise, you fill the nano almost immediately with music. There's no storing extra stuff ( ... )

I wish I was finished with my online obligations right this minute, because I want to go to bed. Ans it is . . . only a little bit after 8pm. :)) I am becoming an old person.

Yes, I have a handful of audiobooks, so those are another option between now and whenever I decide to upgrade if I do. :D I would primarily be watching various full seasons of TV shows I have collected over time and never gotten around to seeing. Watching them small is better than never watching them at all, right?

Hahaha, I see I have impressed you with my lack of iLounge knowledge. *_* I will have plenty to research on these sites, I say! Thanks for all the links, word :D

printouts of pr0ny ficcy goodness, placed in a white folder with a random made up big title on the side (international relations, political theory, media studies etc.) are your friend. you'll look serious and if anyone asks, you're thinking of applying to grad school/online degree.

umm. i don't own an ipod so i have no advice to you on that, sorreh!

With my luck, that folder full of "schoolwork" would end up in the wrong hands. o_O That's all I need to make my new workplace even less welcoming. >.>

:P I'm surprised at you not wanting to port your tennis matches to and fro on a tiny pocket-sized screen. :))

awww. that would suck yes. but that's why you guard the folder with your life ;)

if the bigger ones came in colors, the decision would be made

Not that this makes them solid colours, but I like Gelaskins a lot.

I would kill for that new 160gb Ipod. I needs it.

:)) I want that one with the chickens wearing suits! I wonder if they have any ducks. . . .

Aww! We're fresh out of holidays for many moons, yet, but perhaps if you can hold out for your birthday, your peeps can pool together and surprise you. ;;) I have decided on the 160GB black one myself, actually. :D Now it becomes a matter of hunting down a discount and/or coupon code of some sort so I feel better about squandering hundreds of dollars on a self-indulgent little toy. :P
