Outside the Manticore Facility, Somewhere in Manassas, VA, Early Saturday Evening

Mar 24, 2007 17:10

Sam waited quietly for Alec, Dawn and his dad, letting Alec and his dad lead the way into Manticore's facility. The irony of being willing to let Alec lead him in anything was not lost on Sam, and he imagined that Dean might find that amusing when they rescued him.

When being the operative word in that thought.

They'd parked the Impala (the only vehicle that could fit them all comfortably) far enough away that it wouldn't look suspicious - privately Alec thought it was an awesome car, but it sucked for undercover work. The building was down a few blocks, nestled in the back of a large parking lot, one of those office type places you'd expect a few doctor and lawyers to take over, all dark, smoky colored windows on every floor.

Leading the four of them up behind the building, skirting down the alleyway, Alec found the service door and listened a moment, making sure there was no one waiting just inside.

"You need help getting it open," John asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

He shook his head once and then waved them over to the alcove before he set to picking the lock. "No one's there," he said quietly. "But they might patrol it soon." They didn't have time to wait and see what the interval was, so he worked quick, fiddling with the industrial mechanism before it clicked open softly and he pulled open the door to slip inside.

John followed Alec inside, moving silently, his gun in his hand. He glanced over his shoulder to make sure Sam and Dawn were following okay.

Dean curled up miserably on the hard cot in the cell. He tried to tell himself that the shivering was just from the cold and could almost believe it-- they hadn't given him a shirt back and had taken his shoes as well so all he had on was his jeans and it was none too warm.

Still he knew that wasn't the entire truth. The torture to try and get him to talk and the so called medical exam which had just been a different type of torture had been bad enough, but the 'psy-op' had been a whole different level of bad. Having something crawling around in his thoughts like that, rifling through them, ripping through any barriers Dean tried to erect... it made him want to throw up even now. He totally got why Alec hated psychics now.

Dean didn't want to think about what might be coming next. So the sound of footsteps heading down the hallway towards his cell made his skin crawl and made him shiver harder.

Stopping in front of the cell door, the soldier looked over his shoulder at John, face impassive. He may have been held at gunpoint, but there was still only so much he was willing to do.

Face equally impassive and gun unwavering, John told him, "Open it."

Dean looked up at the familiar voice. "Dad?"
