Once again, I offer up the traditional challenge I make on this holiday:

Comment here with a topic, any topic, and I will write a limerick about it for you.

This tradition dates back quite a while now, with iterations in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014 which you can peruse at your leisure ( Read more... )

Hi! I study ants and crickets. A limerick on either subject would be delightful.

Up against the industrious ant,
We're a species which they could supplant
(Giving no helpful clues
If they should so choose),
So our odds for survival are scant.

Mwa ha ha, thank you!

Crickets flock to the tropics and keep
To the shadows when predators creep.
Their cylindrical shape
Varies by their landscape,
And they don't always fly, but they leap.

All my efforts thus far to curtail
Holes in socks have seen them still prevail.
Each new hole has the same
Origin for its blame,
Poking out from my largest toenail.

As a public debut, Justin paid
His father a stirring accolade,
But as Mister Trudeau,
His priorities show
Different choices than those Pierre made.
