I sunk the better part of the last two days into Baldur's Gate. Yesterday I found myself wrapped up enough in it that, while riding on the T, I continued to feel real existential dread over my decision to accept a ranger and mage into my party over a probably stronger cleric. My sources say that the story is by Tobias Wolff, and you can find it either in the Sept. 25, 1995 issue of "The New Yorker", or in the book "The Night in Question", which collections a bunch of shorts by Wolff. (Hmm, maybe I will seek out this thingy, at that.)
