there was no Roger Moore cameo

I watched The Saint on DVD last night, because it seemed the most lighthearted film on my 'to watch' pile. Unfortunatly, it got beyond skippy at one bit. That's an observation, not a complaint, because IIRC I got the DVD from a charity shop, but it happened during a favourite trope of mind.( Spoiler? )

my film reviews, revenge: the tv series, dvds, films

Roger Moore has more sense! Oh boy was that a bad film. He did, however, have a role in this Saint movie from a couple of years ago (it was a pilot that has yet to air): https://youtu.be/qhEI_jDRZw8

Damned shame that it hasn't been picked up by a network anywhere. Although I'm not sold on the Saint in a modern day setting, this was the first time that Patricia Holm has ever been in a Saint adaptation. Patricia Holm, aka: best female character ever in a book. Pat rocks.

I half-remembered there was talk of a TV adaptation. I'll check that out. (In which book does Patricia Holm appear? Should I look out for it?)

Pat's in loads of the books. She was the Saint's #1 associate for years - almost his equal in gunplay and high-speed getaways. She was a very modern woman in so many ways. They lived together despite not being married, for instance, and in the 1920s too! Sadly, when Charteris moved to America he became heavily influenced by the cinema, and decided that he didn't want his hero tied down to one woman (not that he ever had been - I suspect that America's more puritan outlook was an influence as well). Consequently Pat was dumped in favour of a monosyllabic ox named Hoppy. One of many reasons why the later Saint books just weren't as good!
