Before I start, I have to confess that you have
hermette to blame for this entirely. We were talking about how she was planning to make a soundfor one of her own fics, and I mentioned that I'd vaguely considered doing one for my Big Bang, but chickened out because it's the kind of thing I would agonise over for hours. But then I started thinking about it.
Whilst I was writing the fic, a friend of mine had asked me to put together a playlist of my favourite ever songs on Spotify, so I did. And I listened to it almost non-stop while I was writing. After I'd spoken to Jenn, it suddenly struck me that the songs on that playlist fitted in almost perfectly with my fic -- the more I thought about it, the spookier the parallels seemed to get. And so in the end it only took me about ten minutes to put this together. Whether the song choice affected what happened in the story, or whether I chose the songs because they addressed things I had been thinking about for such a long time, I'll never know. Either way, every is bloody good, so I hope you enjoy it if you choose to download.
And if you don't enjoy it? Like I said, blame
hermette. ♥

01.
Dolly Parton -- 9 to 5They let you dream
Just to watch 'em shatter
You're just a step
On the boss man's ladder
But you got dreams he'll never take away
In the same boat with a lot of your friends
Waitin' for the day your ship'll come in
And the tide's gonna turn
And it's all gonna roll your way
02.
Louis Prima ft The Witnesses -- Just A Gigolo/Ain't Got NobodyI ain't got nobody and there's
Nobody cares for me there's
Nobody cares for me
I'm so sad and lonely,oh lonely, oh lonely, lonely, lonely
Won't some sweet mama come and rescue me?
Cause I ain't so bad...
03.
Belle and Sebastian -- Step Into My Office BabyI've got to change my ways
Dress for business every day
A smart suit and a kipper tie
A big arrow pointing to my fly
We need to talk
Step into my office, baby
I want to give you the job
A chance of overtime
Say my place at nine?
04.
Paolo Nutini -- CandyOh, darling I'll kiss your eyes
And lay you down on your rug
Just give me some candy
After my heart
I know that there writing's on the wall
But darling I'll bathe your skin
I'll even wash your clothes
Just give me some candy
After my heart
Oh, and I'll be there waiting for you
Oh, I'll be there waiting for you
I'll be there waiting for you
05.
The National -- Slow ShowI wanna hurry home to you
Put on a slow, dumb show for you
To crack you up
So you can put a blue ribbon on my brain
God I'm very, very frightened
I'll overdo it
You know I dreamed about you
For twenty-nine years before I saw you
You know I dreamed about you
I missed you for
For twenty-nine years
06.
Jeff Buckley -- HallelujahWell there was a time when you let me know
What's really going on below
But now you never show that to me do you?
And remember when I moved in you?
And the holy dove was moving too
And every breath we drew was Hallelujah
Hallelujah
07.
Betty Noyes -- Baby MineBaby mine, don't you cry
Baby mine, dry your eyes
Rest your head close to my heart
Never to part
Baby of mine
08.
The Shirelles -- Will You Love Me TomorrowTonight with words unspoken
You say that I'm the only one
But will my heart be broken
When the night meets the morning sun?
I'd like to know that your love
Is love I can be sure of
So tell me now, and I won't ask again
Will you still love me tomorrow?
09.
Jonny Greenwood -- Prospectors Arriveinstrumental
10.
Radiohead -- Black StarI get on the train
And I just stand about
Now that I don't think of you
I keep falling over
I keep passing out
When I see a face like you
What am I coming to?
I'm gonna melt down...
11.
Low -- Little Argument With MyselfJust keep counting the stars
Like someday you'll find out
Just how many there are
And we all can go home
'Cos there's nothing as sad
As a man on his back
Counting stars
12.
Aimee Mann -- Wise UpIt's not
What you thought
When you first began it
You got
What you want
Now you can hardly stand it though,
By now you know
It's not going to stop
It's not going to stop
It's not going to stop
'Til you wise up
13.
Electrelane -- The ValleysWe've been sad because we missed
One whose yellow head was kissed
By the gods, who thought about him
'Til they couldn't do without him
Now he's here again
Standing in a wood that swings
To the madrigal he sings
And I'm sure, as here I stand
That he shines through every land
That he sings in every place
Where we're thinking of his face
While we know such dreams are true
14.
Eva Cassidy -- SongbirdTo you, I would give the world
To you, I'd never be cold
'Cos I feel that when I'm with you
It's alright, I know it's right
And the songbirds keep singing
Like they know the score
And I love you, I love you, I love you
Like never before
15.
Mike & the Mechanics -- The Living YearsI know that I'm a prisoner to all my father held so dear
I know that I'm a hostage to all his hopes and fears
I just wish I could have told him in the living years
Crumpled bits of paper
Filled with imperfect thought
Stilted conversations
I'm afraid that's all we've got
16.
Alisha's Attic -- The IncidentalsIt's just the little things,
The incidentals,
It's like you wouldn't even notice
When you really turn me on,
It's the little sparks that fly and then
Land like dynamite,
It's just, it's just the simple things,
Pure incidentals,
It's like staying up 'till midnight
And talking about absolutely nothing
It's the thought that it'll always be
As wild as I expect it to be, yeah
17.
Elbow -- Scattered Black and WhitesAnd he talks of people ten years gone
Like I've known them all my life
Like scattered black and whites
I come back here from time to time
I shelter here some days
18.
Mumford & Sons -- TimshelAnd you have your choices
And these are what make man great
His ladder to the stars
But you are not alone in this
And you are not alone in this
As brothers we will stand and we'll hold your hand
Hold your hand
And I will tell the night
Whisper, 'Lose your sight'
But I can't move the mountains for you
19.
Death Cab For Cutie -- I Will Follow You Into The DarkThe time for sleep is now
It's nothing to cry about
'cause we'll hold each other soon
In the blackest of rooms
If heaven and hell decide
That they both are satisfied
Illuminate the no's on their vacancy signs
If there's no one beside you
When your soul embarks
Then I'll follow you into the dark
Then I'll follow you into the dark
20.
The Divine Comedy -- Tonight We FlyAnd when we die
Oh, will we be
That disappointed or sad
If heaven doesn't exist
What will we have missed
This life is the best we've ever had
