there was no romance on a cold winter ocean and the gale sang an awful song

  • I went to bed at 12:30 a.m., go me. Yes, you read it here first, folks. So now I'm trying to talk myself out of talking myself out of going to church. I'm still sleepy like I was last night, and I'm really beginning to think it's Adderall-induced fatigue. I hate that, but darnit, the stuff works for me jobwise. So, anyway, I really should go to ( Read more... )

I went to bed pretty early last night, too. And I went to the mall yesterday. And I got new books. AND I recently got a new phone. (I'd love to get a passport and hide out in Canada, but that's sadly not going to happen anytime soon.)

We are clearly soul mates. ;)

See, the trick is NOT to get a passport. Then when you want to come back they won't let you in, so you have to stay in Canada. Although somehow I don't think Canada's going to be too thrilled if this happens frequently.

I googled "Stephen King and guitar." I mean, how can you not love such a picture? And... it's very hard to see, but the letters on the icon? They're bones. *creepy smile*

It looks like a Rock Bottom Remainders picture.

Bones...oooh.

Well, you're going to die if you don't go to ComicCon, aren't you? What with Stephen King and J. Michael Difficult-To-Spell-Last-Name.

Stan Rogers: Not to speak ill of the dead and yes he does/did have a sexy voice, but how come he sounds as if he is sixty years old if he's a day? Did he live his life on fast forward?

Tentative yay! at spin-off possibility.

As much as I love JMS (if you just use initials you don't have to try to spell the difficult-to-spell thing), I wouldn't spend the money for the bus (or train) plus the con plus maybe an overnight. I'd do all that for my platonic!boyfriend, though. *g*

*has epiphany* STAN ROGERS = MERLIN Okay, it's not an exact analogy, but it's fun to think of Cliché!Merlin singing "Barrett's Privateers" ("oh, the year was 787 AD, how I wish I was in Cornwall now").

Tentative yay! at spin-off possibility.

I'm betting it isn't going to happen. This is Paul "I'd do a fourth season if there was one" Gross being all wishful-thinking-y, most likely.

Glee, GLEE, GLEEEEE.

GLEE.

I'm not sure if I want to thank you for this or run screaming from the room

I have that effect on people. *modest*

Web search says Kowalski is from Kowal, meaning blacksmith - which as an Irish name seems to end up as McGowan (again by haphazard Googling.) Okay, wrong way to go about it, it would probably be better to find an Irish name that looks like Kowalski. Oh, that's harder. Well, you could just call him something that's pronounced like "Kowal" but is spelled out using lots of gs and hs, I suppose.... am I getting too involved here? Backing off!

DO NOT BACK OFF, I NEED ALL THE HELP I CAN GET. I have to research the NWMP, for one, and ships of the eighteenth century, and whether an Irishman would even BE in Nova Scotia then (I'm thinking yes) and stuff like that. And OMG, Look at those uniforms!. I refuse, however, to let Fraser have a beard. Facial hair and Fraser shall never meet, thank you kindly.

The NWMP! Oh, awesome! Good, good, good.

I would imagine there were Irishmen all over the place back then - the Irish and the Scottish traded populations a lot. But I will leave allllll the research to you, as I am lazy merely watching from afar.

I don't knooooow, he's looking pretty scruffy in BDTH... it's true, I prefer him clean-shaven, though.

Scruffy is okay. Nothing wrong with a little five-o'clock shadow. No honest-to-god beard, though, because that'd just be all kinds of WRONG.

You could say he has a sensual voice? I don't know, it doesn't turn me on, though it does make me want to sing. I've never heard Fisherman's Wharf before, but the tune is so familiar, I've probably heard filksongs based on it.

Sensual's good.

It doesn't exactly turn me on, either, because it's Stan Rogers. That would be like being hot for Jesus or something.
