It takes between half an hour and two hours each. It's a nice chunk of time. Long enough to feel like something, short enough that you can have that nice feeling of gratification.
I have a couple of Plans for doilies in the future. One is to make a tree of life out of colored doilies. For a little while I was just free-handing these suckers, but when you do that, there's a lot of them that end up not lying flat or looking kind of silly, so what I'm thinking now is that I'll make a whole lot of these little ones from the book to learn various techniques and then I can design the right doily for each sephira. Colors are a little bit of a challenge because crochet thread mostly comes in pastels. There's some places I found online though, where I think I can get what I need.
The other idea is Sea Animals. At least the symmetrical ones.
You just buy the dye you use for icing. It's pretty simple -- I pulled the instructions off the internet and it worked well on wool, less well on cashmere. Haven't tried cotton, but it should be easy enough.
I have some darkish red crochet thread that someone thought I could use. Would you like it?
That's the trouble with doilies. I theoretically could connect them all into some kind of crazy-quilt style tablecloth. But what I might really do is put little tags on them and number them so I have real examples of what each of the 300 motifs look like. I don't think I'll make all 300, but I plan to make all of the lacy ones.
Ooooooooo! Bardzo ładne. Moja mama robi je nałogowo, zwłaszcza ostatnio (jest chora i się nudzi). Aby serwetki ładnie się układały warto wsadzić je w krochmal.

How long does each one of those take to make?

Yup. Though I think maybe I did one on Monday.
What are you going to do with them?
