My baby boy is not quite 6 weeks old. We breast feed from the tap (only), on demand, round the clock. The longest we go without feeding is about 3 hours during the day and less at night ( Read more... )

Awww... looks like you're one of the lucky *cough* ones that no amount of breastfeeding will stop your monthly flow, lol. I am that way myself, although mine always re-started at three months postpartum. Still, though... given the amount of time I was breastfeeding, you'd think it would have held off a little longer!

At 6w PP, it's still lochia. Did you have an active day or bash yourself or overdo it? Anything like that can restart postpartum bleeding, and it'll come out as bright red blood. I wouldn't fret about it being your period yet.

It still could be lochia, you'll know if it was in about another month. Or maybe you're one of us lucky ones, heh. I exclusively bf both of my boys and my period was back completely regularly at 6w pp with #1 and 10w pp with #2.

It's most likely lochia. It's very common to have the bleeding stop and start. With both my kids I had a little bout of bleeding weeks 7-8 again and then no period until 12 months with the first one and not yet with the second (she's 8 months).

The same thing happened to me, period started on Fridayish (Taylor was born 6/11, she's 5w3d today).

Saw the midwife today for my 6w post partum checkup and she said that I could continue to get periods OR they may not come back after this one. So there is hope. But one thing is for sure: use contraception if you want to prevent pregnancy even if you don't get your period back.
