It's apparently been announced that when the next season of Doctor Who debuts, it'll be simulcast in the US on BBC America. (No word on whether that'll be the case for subsequent episodes) And, it appears the 2017 special, Twice Upon A Time, will be released on UHD BluRay! I'm not clear yet whether it was actually produced in 4K, or if it's simply ( Read more... )

It was a nice day out! Altho, as I said, I had to dock Ocean's 8 half a star for pedestrian cinematography, which didn't live up to it's tight script and well knit together ensemble cast. So can only give it four and a half stars. You forgot to mention we also saw "Incredibles 2".

I can see that - but I'll consider it to be more deliberately disregarding cinematographic convention in places. =:)

I2 was cunningly concealed in the following paragraph. =:) I certainly did enjoy it, but of the two, it's O8 I've preordered. (Due on Aug 21, yay! Solo not until Sep 4 or so - the roomie'll doubtless have that downloaded within hours)

I'm a little surprised there's still not been any word on a second Zootopia outing, too, but I suppose Ralph's next adventure wasn't announced until a couple years after the original's release. I'll be particularly interested to see if they take the bait on making a cinematic sequel and a TV continuation - the former for the huge budget, and the latter for the ability to tell so many more stories, with the setting so well equipped for it.

Oops, my eye must have skipped over that while scrolling down.

Since I want to be a professional screenwriter, I'm professionally obligated not to talk on record about how I'd adapt something for TV because that's a tricky legal area. So you'll have to continue that conversation with me off-line.

No problem; brains are weird things. Handy, though.

Mm, presumably akin to unsolicited submissions to companies leaving them with the awkward prospect of the submitter being able to claim inspiration in a future product/release? Not to worry. Maybe we can continue such in London or Oxford sometime. ^_^

Unfortunately I missed O8 in the local theater, so I'll have to wait for it to hit Netflix, HBO, or Amazon as I cancelled the Hulu subscription.

We saw both Ant Man & Wasp and Increbibles 2 a couple of weeks ago, enjoyed both very much. Might get out for Equilizer 2 soon, might not.

FYI, it looks like Packt Books has finally started releasing new books for their free book of the day. They went through a space of 2-3 months where I was lucky to get more than four a month of their free releases being something that I didn't already have.

I was surprised how much I enjoyed it, TBH. ^_^ It's a very good script, but it's the screen chemistry that really make it sizzle; suffice to say, Autostraddle was all over it. =:)

If only some of these competing TV services could cooperate! It's getting a bit much, and it's only set to get worse, with everyone asking for $10+/mo for their own distinct offerings. Still, that's why the digital gods bestowed BitTorrent upon us. =:)

Oh, cool beans! I admit, i haven't checked there in a while now - no particular reason, though the friction of the captcha might've contributed - it's one thing to have to go through that once, but two, three, even four times? (If only O'Reilly hadn't gone the subscription-only route.. reminds me, I need to keep an eye out for a good iOS 12 title - there's presumably got to be one or two, even if only in a pre-release state)

My personal morning habit is I load an f*tonne of web comics to read over breakfast, and that includes Packt, so it's easy for me. As far as the Captcha is concerned, which I agree is a PITB, the thing to do before clicking on the 'get this book' button, is to reload the page! 95%+ of the time I ever get the 'solve the Captcha' requirement.

One thing that I hate about lots of streaming services is that they don't offer subscriptions if you don't have a cable or satellite provider! So if you are a cord cutter, you can't get certain programming, such as BBC America or Fox Sports. I almost missed the final of the World Cup, except I was able to get a trial of Fubo for the last game. I'm not sure how I'll be able to get the Women's World Cup.

You might want to look at betas for Big Nerd Ranch books, they seem to be pretty prompt on new Apple OS releases, they might have one brewing.

TV distribution problems may make it difficult for us to watch Jodi in Doctor Who, which will make me very unhappy. Might have to wait for the DVD release, I don't know if Amazon will be carrying them promptly on Prime. BBC America is one of those who wants you to have a cable subscription for their Apple TV app. Supposedly BBC was going to release a full BBC TV app for Apple TV, but that was going to be last September, and I've never seen it.

I'm not actually much closer to figuring out the title, and I'm now on page 204. ^_^; Quite an amazing yarn, I have to say - visually sumptuous, with a style that feels much as one might expect of someone versed in animation, plus some gorgeous use of color. But, as yet, I actually haven't explored their site any further, lest I bifurcate my attention still further - I am, as you know, a bunny of very little brain. ^_^ (On which note, I saw the trailer for Christopher Robin back then, too - looks actually quite promising, with the CG in the style of plush of the time)

Ooh, you're in for a treat. ^_^ It's absolutely stylised to hell and back, but WTH - it's as slick as you'd expect from him, and one of his most satisfying productions, I feel. (Reminds me, I really ought to see Steve Zissou someday)

Oh, that sketch is fab - it looks super Sixties. If they were to open for commissions I would be very interested.

I'll have to check if they're intending to, when I'm next in the sub! ISTR them saying they were new to furry art, too - I think they made quite the debut. =:D I'd be up for a full piece, certainly. Maybe something sci-fi related, with shiny space suits. ^_^ Ooh, maybe a homage to one of those gloriously cheesy pulp sci-fi covers.. (reminds me, there was a wonderful piece in that Discworld art exhibition last month, a Frazetta homage, but with the gender roles reversed. It was glorious. ^_^ Rincewind as the figure at the hero's feet, and.. agh, I forget her name - the female barbarian, I think)

I imagine their choice of my outfit was based on one of the images I supplied as a reference - simple, but quietly elegant. ^_^

That's a great pose. Monarch of all you survey!

Oh yes, I think they'd do a great job of a pulp-type cover!
