Pineapple cider

If you're an American amateur radio licensee, read here for how you may be able to volunteer to aid in Puerto Rico's ongoing humanitarian crisis.

Yay! Finally, we have the trailer for Aardman's next cinematic offering, Early Man. And, a new Peter Rabbit film, and a new Wes Anderson production, Isle of Dogs. Peter Rabbit I'll admit to being nervous ( Read more... )

Well, I am intrigued by the pineapple cider! I'd also be very pleased to see something from Armando Iannucci; I love all the Friday Night Armistice crew.

So far, it's really tasting rather good. ^_^ I'm a farmhouse cider bunny, so I do tend toward the drier, more robust end, with no filtration; and as of Monday, it was still retaining that mildly acidic edge, even if citric rather than malic - fermentation and maturing can, of course, alter flavor profiles quite dramatically. (It might even be ready to bottle today, yay! Main thing is if it's mostly done, if I'm wanting a cider with some mild effervescence - or I could leave it another day or two, and forego any priming sugar, to leave it to dry out ( ... )

I'm not a huge Chris Morris fan, TBH; too mean. And I had to stop watching Alan Partridge because it became just unbearable. I'm so middle of the road!

My palate seems to be changing; I used to be all over the sweeter drinks, but I like things much drier these days. (That said, salted caramel Stoli is <3.)

I sort of saw Valerian, but did not hear all of the audio. It was at the "local" drive-in for one night only and my car's battery died about 20 minutes into the film. After that, if I stood outside the vehicle, I could sort of hear the audio coming from other cars.

Fortunately I was able to get a jump and drive the car home. Mechanic was amazed the battery took a jump. It turns out it was the original 2005 factory-installed battery.

uh, Peter Sellers died?

A writing prompt I spotted over on Autostraddle: what was the first major news story you remember being aware of?

This is a long ago memory and I don't know if it qualifies. I remember the tension, dread, and even the trauma over the launch of what was probably Korabl-Sputnik 4. It could also have been Korabl-Sputnik 1. I was in Schenectady and very young, maybe in kindergarten or first grade (which shows the memory overlap), and know there were a lot of hushed conversations both at school and at home concerning this. Scary times for a child. Like now with Rocket Man and Dotard (I love that name!)

Otherwise, like everyone else my age: Kennedy's death.

The new Peter Rabbit has luscious animation, and looks to follow all the spin offs done to these childhood favorites as time goes on. ...it could so easily be a case of them taking elements of Beatrix Potter's stories and characters, and tossing them into a Blender. is an apt description. Similar to what happened to Winnie the Pooh. And Basil of Baker Street ( ... )

Well, more or less. ^_^ I'm trying to catch up with LJ, and really wish I could keep up with it properly, but TBH, so often, I wind up feeling so alone that I just can't really face trying to read thoughtful entries and compose meaningful replies to them - I know I'd be stuck just ploughing through, rather than enjoying (where applicable) these moments being shared with myself and others. It's nothing serious, thankfully - I know that if I were able to move back to the City, f'rex, I'd snap back before I even hit the ground. It's more a kind of very dull "maintenance mode".

It's good to be back, all the same, and I even popped into SL yesterday. ^_^ Wow, the old sim's looking quite different now! I need to go exploring the neighborhood again. And maybe go shopping - can never have too many cute boots, after all. ^_^

*hug* Not really, I'm afraid. *hug* I feel quite isolated, and I'm not sure at all as to how that may improve. *sigh*
