"Was it really your idea?" Cuddy asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Yes."
Cuddy wanted to laugh but held back, looking over Cameron as she tried to stand her ground. She reached out and took the young woman's hand, looking at the cuts and scratches, letting her fingertips brush over the red marks in her pale skin.
"And drugging him?"
"Yes."
The second 'yes' was stronger and Cuddy believed it, and in turn couldn't quite believe it. She smiled, squeezing the younger woman's hand.
"Why?"
"He needed care." Cuddy nodded at the answer, accepting the answer. She believed that of Cameron.
"He reminds you of House."
"You've been talking to Wilson." Cuddy nodded, dropping her hand and stepping away, leaning back against her desk. "He does a little," Cameron continued.
Cuddy nodded again, trying not to sigh. This thing she had with Cameron, this relationship, seemed like it wasn't going to go anywhere, not when the younger woman obviously still felt something for House. Something strong for House if she'd found some courage to lie to her. She felt a little reassured however, when Cameron leaned into her touch, as she brushed her fingers over the scratches on her face, then cupped her cheek.
Sometimes she woke up in the morning alone, and considered breaking it off, telling Cameron it was over. She didn't think there was anything to this, beyond sex, didn't really think that Cameron really cared for her at all.
Sometimes she woke up in the morning with Cameron wrapped around her and never wanted it to end. Never thought it would or could end.
"Lisa?"
She came back to the present, her office, and looked to see Cameron's concern etched so deeply into her face.
"Does you arm still hurt?" she asked, letting her hand fall way from the younger woman's face.
"A little."
She stretched her arm out and flinched a little. Cuddy looked out of her office door and kissed Cameron on the cheek when she saw it was clear outside. Cameron did the same, glancing back out of the office door and kissed Cuddy back, a quick peck on the lips. She was looking for different reason though, looking for House, Cuddy was sure, and knew they were near an end if she could only think about how Cameron felt about him, and not how she felt about the young doctor.
She couldn't compete with House.
