Place to exchange Canadian currency in coins?

I studied abroad in Canada for a couple of years and returned last year. It was a rough time for me. I only recently started really going through everything I brought back with me.

After going through wallets, purses, backpacks, and suitcases, I've come up with about $30 in Canadian change -- primarily loonies and toonies.

The passports aren't that expensive and are good for 10 years, irrc. Are you sure you won't be traveling overseas at some point? I always keep my passport current, so if I do happen to get a chance to travel overseas *again*, I'll be ready.

Sell them on ebay for half of what they're worth? Very bad "exchange rate", of course, but still better than nothing.

post on a local lj group or craiglist, sell them for slightly less then the going rate to people who travel to canada often.

No exchange place in the world takes coins. It's not economically feasible due to weight.
(Imagine moving $100,000 in currency compared to $100,000 in coin.)

Others have made the suggestion I was going to - poke around, sell slightly below the exchange rate to someone going.

OR - get out the drill, make some "exotic coin" jewelry. And either use that or sell it.

Not technically true--when I lived in Africa, there were many places that would exchange coins.

Of course, this is in no way helpful to the OP :P
