I think the HR is an individual thing really. I record my resting HR (upon waking) and have an excel spreadsheet for training that clued me in to 'training' pace 165. I've also had my VO2 tested and it seems my metabolic rate drops drammatically after about 157, so I burn more calories when I exercise below that HR. I understood from the person who ran the test that if I do cardio in the 140-152 range I can build up and maybe burn more fat even at the upper HR range. Which, is what I'm trying to do. Basically, by exercising in the lower ranges I'm hoping to build up stamina, strength and metabolism.
Depending on what you're trying to do, that HR may be fine--but it all depending on what your resting rate and max rate are.
I know I swim pretty slow cause I'm short and very dense. I do think shortness has its athletic disadvantages for sure.
I'd love to get together with you and K--if weather permits and my RA ain't too bitey--maybe Sunday?
Focusing on the eating/fullness experience really helps me a lot.
I wish we lived in the same city. I run about a 12-13 minute mile... I've had the same experience of trying to run with people who think 10 is slow. :-(
Yet another reason why life would be more fun if we lived closer. I do want to come and visit this summer--soon when things are less crazy. Maybe when class lets out for me?
